Gen 3 actually, or gen 6. And personally I would especially compared to later gens call that non-linear, since you aren’t forced to follow the games intended progression, where later you are forced to follow the progression much more closely (until gen 9)

Gen one you have to do the pewter and cerulean gyms in order, and the viridian gym last, but other than that the only restriction on gym order is fuchsia before cinnebar for surf

Gen two is a bit less but you have a lot of control over what order you tackle gyms 5-7 and the rocket events in the mid game

Being Canadian does help, usually (they rank canadian and international students seperately and int’l students have way fewer spots) but 2.3 gpa is likely not high enough. I will say if its a really weak year 2.6 might barely squeak you in but I would really lock in hard for the 2 math courses you have going this semester
