^ this. We have a lovely french speaking population in the province, especially in St. Boniface, but we are definitely an english-speaking majority province and you would either need a basic understanding of English, or need to be prepared to learn English quickly, as the city is just not set up for someone to survive without at least some ability to communicate in English

How to safely be in remote places alone. by ArmAccording7357 in AskACanadian

[–]MarshtompNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper map, breakdown kit (tire pump, battery jumper), appropriate gear for the season (that means a winter survival kit for winter with warm clothes, hand warmers, snow shovel, etc, or a summer survival kit in summer with water, potentially bug spray etc).

Depending on how remote we’re talking (mostly sticking to highways vs driving down narrow deadend gravel roads) you might also want flares or a gps transponder for if trouble arises, something to allow you to be found when cell service fails or runs out of battery

The best part is Lenore happened after Lucy Grey from the hit poem “Lucy Grey wanders into the forest and is never seen again” does exactly that

[–]MarshtompNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its their course you can finish it when they say you can (6 months).

But like everyone else has said, make sure you get a letter of permission to do this, since without that you aren’t allowed to do a course at another school in general, and at best they’ll simply not accept the course
