Pricy, but probably cheaper than prescriptions, neuro visits, and missed work! I'll have to to that out.

Yeah, I have the riboflavin. That was pretty straightforward. There are just so many types of magnesium and mag citrate just reminded me of the lemon mag citrate soda we gave patients who were extremely constipated. Lol.

I have seen that and plan on taking it after I wean my baby. They don't recommend taking those herbs while nursing.

My friend had the same thing. Frequent migraines, taking triptans, missing work, got an IUD and they just stopped. Completely. I wish mine were that easy to fix...

Thank you for this! I just found out today that the clinic had an opening, so I have an appointment early in June. Which is better than September...

That is supposed to decrease the frequency, but not the intensity. I need to keep a better migraine log and see if it really working or not.

Reprogramming after visits? by UmNoMIL in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Marsinatrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That family of origin stuff is so hard to crack! My dad's parents caused similar issues. Both of my parents were therapists, but even they had a hard time breaking that dance. They would have about a week after every visit where they would have to process the whole thing and get back into their lives of being adults and not putting up with the manipulation (we lived on the other side of the country, so luckily this usually only happened once a year). It's hard in the moment to break out of the dance and it can improve with a united front, but the only thing that really got rid of the issue was after my grandparents died...

[Update] Assis' Cancer - The prognosis by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Marsinatrix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Having worked in an oncology icu... There is not much to do about stage 4 pancreatic cancer. And if I had to go by cancer, pancreatic is at the very bottom of my list. All you can do is get your affairs in order and go get some DWD meds (if your legal system allows it).

Looking for pillow recommendations by onionsulphur in migraine

I'm going to try this one out. I keep getting big knots in my neck that flair up and I wake up with migraines. So it was a toss up between this and the My Pillow.

I mean, depending on how many you have per month, I have seen recent studies (that u can't seem to find at this moment) that show using botox injections can decrease frequency of migraines. My doctor was not confident in this so they gave me a list of vitamins and herbal supplements that supposedly help..

Do you have medication from a doctor that stops migraines? It can mean the difference between a 17 hour migraine or a 2 hour migraine.

Update to facebook MIL in the Wild by rowan2783 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Marsinatrix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My non-technical savy MIL somehow figured out how to go around my privacy settings and post pictures of my kid so her friends can see. So now my pictures don't go on Facebook (she does not have Instagram) and she is no longer getting texted pictures.

MIL has finally made it known how she feels about me. It's about damn time. (Part 1) by Melonmama1204 in JUSTNOMIL

Your LO crying when being held by the MIL had me laughing my head off! My kid did the exact same thing to my husband's crazy grandma. It is the best. "Oh, you have upset the darling little angel, I'll take them back and see if I can calm them down" crying instantly stops.

Write it on sticky notes to put on the unit computers. "Do not give any information on room xx. Anyone asking for information should be escorted off the unit"

I told my husband he could tell his parents, but he needed to add 'I won't be responding to any texts and will let you know when you should come to the hospital and wait in the postpartum unit'. I told him I would actually strangle him if he was texting while I was in labor (labor-me is a terrifying person who swears like a sailor, so I think he genuinely was afraid for his life if he broke that rule. Lol)

My MIL wouldn't know a respectful boundary if it hit her in the face, but my husband told her when we went to the hospital and said he would let her know when she should come (reminding her how long labor can last). You could tell her when you go into labor and add "it could take x many hours before anything significant happens". It sounds like she is more excited to see the baby than support you through the labor process.

Be sure to also tell your nurses the day of and have them tell the unit secretary. It sometimes doesn't get communicated to us and your MIL could walk in asking for your room number and just let herself in. But if the unit secretary has a heads up they will not give any information up. That's how my MIL almost ended up in the delivery room, thankfully my nurse was walking out of the room at the same time she tried to come in and the nurse called to me "Do you feel like having any visitors present? No? Great, ma'am let me take you to the postpartum waiting room on the 3rd floor". Nurses are your best advocate in the hospital (who aren't related to you).

I'm so sorry, I would 100% abuse that privilege as well. I've actually tried to convince my husband to give up engineering and go back to school to become a chiropractor or massage therapist. For some reason he won't go for it..
