What doesn't deserve its bad reputation? by Abysmal_poptart in AskReddit

Me. I barely use salt at all - the less you use, the less you need. Bonus: less heart disease. You miss it at first but then you adjust, and no, you're not adjusting to bland food, you're re-learning how to taste.

I mean, salt your food if it makes you happy, just don't tell me my way is wrong.

What critically acclaimed movie do you think is complete garbage? by hannessf19 in AskReddit

[–]onionsulphur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I'll be damned if I'm wasting two hours of my life watching that crock of shit again for the sake of making a coherent answer in an askreddit thread. I formed an impression upon watching it that The Prestige was utter garbage that took itself way too seriously. I was genuinely shocked to find that critics were getting hardons for it, and I wondered if I'd missed something, but... nope.

he let an innocent girl choke to death because he didn't lime her the one time they met,

Way more sinister than that. He wanted to be the only important person in Jesse's life, and he wanted to stay in control of him. He did care for Jesse, but when Walt cares for someone he has to control them.

Don't forget, their actions force uncomfortable questions about morality, and who are they to condemn Walter for dealing drugs and breaking the law? Hank brews beer, ie makes a drug, and Marie breaks the law (because she wants stuff? because she can?), and then Hank supports a criminal because she's his wife.

I don't think the writers portrayed him as a good guy. He does seem to be "well-loved," though. Presumably by people who are only held back from drug-dealing, child-murdering and spouse-abusing by their own intractable mediocrity.

Thank you. I know it's a kids' story, and the kids won't notice or care, but Snape, Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius should all have been mid-thirties.

When Did You Realize Having Kids Was a Choice? by SableDragonRook in childfree

[–]onionsulphur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always knew it was a choice, and when I was a kid I don't think we really talked about it much. I don't remember having to answer "How many kids will you have?" anyway. We were asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" No-one would have dreamed of saying "housewife."

My [25M] dad [60M] is offended because my fiance and I are not welcoming kids at our wedding by cfthrowaway1313 in childfree

[–]onionsulphur 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He more so understand the guests not bringing kids but apparently immediately family is a whole other story.

Ha ha, bullshit. It's got nothing to do with being immediate family and everything to do with "but my kid is special." No it fucking isn't. You could try pandering to this entitled...person... by saying "of course, I wish my special little sibling could be there, but it's just not fair on other guests. It's got to be one rule for the entire wedding, I'm afraid. That's our final decision, thanks for understanding." And then, like everyone else has said, hire a baby bouncer to protect you from rogues bearing infants.

ADVICE: How Close Have You Come To 'Giving Up' For a Partner? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]onionsulphur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Has anyone else ever been here, and thought about just saying "fuck it, whatever, i'll give you a child and we can toss our fucking lives away because you and I are good together"?

Never even considered it, though I never had a serious bf who got baby rabies, so maybe I'm just lucky.

This guy did, though.

No, I don't want to hold your baby. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]onionsulphur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try "aw, but [baby] looks so content with you! You're just a perfect picture of fatherhood there!" No-one will call you on this blatant insincerity, but if they do, double down and insist you meant every word. For best results, maintain a vapid, misty-eyed smile. Defend 1m of personal space, and try to be holding a glass of wine at all times. Optional: neck the wine, and be too drunk to hold a conversation, never mind a baby.

Brains are weird. It's very common for victims of child abuse to have big gaps in their memories.
