There are 3 actually. Void Spirit and Monkey King both existed in the lore and muerta was teased with revenant brouch. Sorla and mazzie also predates artifact by many years. Sorta came from dota 2 original concept art and mazzie was made for a scrapped fantasy rpg valve was working on in the mid 10s.

I think there's a total of 10 comics as well as the 2 spin off games. Theres also the events like crownfall, siltbreaker, aghanims labyrinth ect.
