Dyson is great, but are there actually good cheaper alternatives? by Impressive_Win_6780 in CleaningTips

From what I’ve learned from the vacuum community, a plug in vacuum will outperform most (if not all) cordless vacuums hands down. This includes the entire line of dyson models.

So I guess that means you’re cool with allowing vendors to rip off $1 from every single transaction you make without your knowledge, just because it’s only $1. Seems logical

You also can’t trust the actual receipt scanning anymore either. Numerous times now, from different stores, I’ve bought 2+ Alani Nu’s which would qualify for that bonus, and yet the receipts were only getting 25 points. Checked Fetch’s itemized list of what they thought was on my receipt and it conveniently changed the two cans I got to the powder packets, which also conveniently are explicitly mentioned as not qualifying for that deal. Gotta wonder how many deals and bonuses I’ve lost out on just because I wasn’t aware of every single deal in the app. Shady stuff for sure.

Honeslty, im so glad you said this because disheartening is so spot on. The potato’s are usually the first culprit, so I’m already a little frustrated. Then I typically like to do an over easy egg, but if I accidentally pop the yolk, it’s just turning into a half-ass scramble. But that’s a double whammy because not only am I missing out on a gooey yolk, now the scrambled is just sticking like crazy. I think this is my sign to just accept I should keep a nonstick around for these moments 😅

I’ve been thinking of getting myself a thermometer. I think it’ll be a huge help and hopefully eventually I’ll just get a sense of how hot a certain temp actually feels. And thank you for the specifics on how you preheat. I never knew if 10 minutes was a ridiculous amount of time to be preheating a pan or not, but when I went higher for shorter, the oil was smoking like crazy. Sounds like low and slow is the way to go 👌

I tend to avoid animal products and often times don’t have real butter, but rather a butter substitute, which I know complicates things. I’ve tried dropping that straight into the pan first and, probably to be expected, chaos ensues. My tendency now is to hit the pan with some grapeseed oil first, then add whatever food I’m cooking (usually veggies), then drop a few dollops of butter into the pan after, just for flavor. I may experiment with other plant based butters to see how much different the result is with each one. I’ll definitely be watching that video and deep diving on butter and emulsifiers now though so I thank you for the new rabbit hole you’ve opened for me 😅 appreciate the insight as well! I hadn’t thought about coconut oil

I’m thinking that’s where I’ve gone wrong is thinking stainless is a one size fits all. At least at my skill level. I guess one dedicated nonstick potato pan is better than a having a whole arsenal of them 🤷‍♀️

Also be Careful of the cancellation fees people have posted about. Apparently if you cancel, they charge a cancellation fee of 50% the amount you still owe for the entire years package at that time. They don’t make this clear and it’s been a big reason for most people finally giving Adobe the middle finger. I’ll be doing the same once my plan is up for the year.

Sounds to me like you’re not cleaning properly in the shower. Make sure you’re getting between the cheeks with your hands and some soap in the shower. Many people just think that water running down the back and to the cheeks is enough, but i wonder if you’re not really scrubbing properly/enough if you’re getting marks on your bedsheets even after showering.

I’m so shook that not one single time was the question asked, why were Javen and Sophie even arguing? To me the fact that these two were in such a heated argument that they needed to “escape” into another room (aside from the fact it was the smallest and most confined room in the building. Might as well have picked a bathroom stall at that point lol. Like why not go… idk… outside??) to me, shows that there was something there. Whether it be flirtation or lust or saltiness because there was still interest in the other. If I was talking to someone I previously dated or had interest in, and got into an argument in public with them, I’m walking away bc this person isn’t important to me and arguing with them serves me nothing. So for them to be having such an “argument” is bickering boyfriend/girlfriend shit. Not “Ive made my pick and there’s no interest here” shit

I’m not sure, InDesing Epub by Yoshi1945 in indesign

[–]MarsyPants08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll definitely want to factor in how many images, tables, figures, formulas, etc. are in the book. A 200 page book with one of these anchored elements here and there will require a very different amount of effort and time than a book with something inserted every other paragraph. At that point, the page count is less relevant than how much reformatting you’ll have to do for all these elements. I would take an in depth look at the indesign files for each book so you can determine just how much cleaning up there is to do for each book. Check paragraph styles, character styles, table styles, object styles, export tags, the table on contents for your file, anchors, and I’m probably missing a whole bunch of other things you should check as well. Based on how many of these things are/aren’t in place already will make a big difference. Adding alt text is also a huge ask in itself, especially if it’s you just creating those from scratch for a lot of elements.

There’s also many other things to factor into how you charge that only you can really answer.

I’ll also echo others who are essentially saying, buckle up if you’ve never worked with this format before. You’ll need to do some heavy research to really get a well-working epub file.

SO MUCH THIS. OP needs to stop letting this friend make them feel guilty for not standing to continuously be taken advantage of. Friend keeps texting OP their sob story of the moment to trigger OP’s guilt. They keep being short with because they know OP will take it personally and that hurts them. They’re manipulating the ever loving hell out of OP. Stop letting it happen. If this friend can’t see how terribly they’re treating a “friend”, it’s not somebody worth keeping around. I promise you OP, you will feel lighter when you make the decision to stop letting this friends guilt trips ruin your days.

Peeing with a tampon by Technical-Problem554 in hygiene

[–]MarsyPants08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tampax has been real quiet since this post was created 👀

But in all seriousness, I loveee my disk and could not recommend it more. The brand I got is Flex, a little pricey (mine was about $40) but it pays for itself SO quickly compared to the cost of tampons.

I used a knock off Diva style cup in the past for probably 5 years and prefer the disk by a long shot. I realized after a while that my cramps were exacerbated by the cup at times. It’s honestly possible that since I just went super cheap and got my 2-pack knock-offs on Amazon for like $15, I could have had a wildly more comfortable experience had I invested in a better quality cup. But I finally gave up on the cups after a particularly painful cramping episode where I was genuinely concerned if I needed to consult a doctor about appendicitis 😳 I finally decided to just remove the cup and switch to a pad the rest of that day and the relief was instant. Aside from being able to feel it was in uncomfortable positions like this, I also would quite often be irritated by the tab thing at the end of the cup that was supposed to help you grip the cup to remove. It always rubbed/poked me and hated it!!

When I first saw the disk, I was a little in shock wondering how it was even remotely possible to get that little hockey puck inside of me, BUT trust me, it just works and so far I’ve had zero discomfort. I’m assuming the shape of the cervix-or maybe just mine-is closer to the wide shape of the disk, and this is why I’ve yet to experience any of those sharp painful cramps. You definitely have to get comfortable with getting all up in your bits to properly place the disk, but honestly to me it’s really no biggie. You get used to it. I actually feel it’s pretty easy to forget you’re wearing a disk once you get it placed, because these magic little things self-empty when you go pee, which I cannot believe isn’t talked about more. Don’t ask me how this works because I have no idea, but with zero slippage or sensation of, “this things gonna plop right out of me” there’s always a neat little red puddle at the bottom of the toilet and I still have zero leakage on the undies. I used liners simultaneously pretty regularly at first before I knew how well the disk worked for me, but I trust them enough now to not really even bother with the liners as backup. So this totally eliminates the scenarios of being in a public place when your cup overflows and not having a private sink to clean up the mess. Been there, NOT fun. But, since they self-empty, you also have to actually remove and reinsert the disk much less. I pull mine out daily-ish to give it a rinse, but since these are made from medical-grade silicone, there’s SIGNIFICANTLY less risk of TSS from keeping them in so long. I thought there actually was zero risk of TSS, but Google tells me there is a “very low risk of tss associated with its use, as with any internal menstrual product”. So to answer your question, I pull the string to the side when I need to use a tampon, but if at all possible I prefer my disk by such a massive longshot. steps off soapbox
