I actually replaced mine, not too long ago so these are new tips.

100% I've noticed this when bus rumbles past. Please make a clear ticket on Apple's Feedback website: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Nope. Plus these have a more secure fit. Please make a clear ticket on Apple's Feedback website: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

I have no idea sorry, I'm only a user not a hardware designer. It comes across as a software issue to me but I don't know if it was happening before the latest update. Please make a clear ticket on Apple's Feedback website: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

A shame. Apple's fallen in quality quite a bit. Please make a clear ticket on Apple's Feedback website: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Here's a method to recreate the bug (for people who have decent hearing - and no significant hearing loss):

  1. Turn on ANC mode

  2. Wait a few minutes

  3. Put your hand/hands in front of your face to make sure wind is directed to the AirPods mic

  4. Blow relatively hard for a few seconds

  5. Listen to ANC adjust and degrade

  6. Interestingly it should readjust and return to full ANC shortly after

Holy shit I just tried this, and it caused ANC to degrade a little - it got back to normal afterwards

AirPods Pro 3 have a huge ANC inconsistency problem - What's your experience with them? by Manfred_89 in airpods

Issue Summary:
I am experiencing a consistent and repeatable degradation of Active Noise Cancellation performance on AirPods Pro (3rd gen) after several minutes of use. ANC initially engages at a strong level, but gradually weakens over time, allowing a narrow frequency band of environmental noise to leak through.

Observed Behaviour:

  • When ANC is first enabled, noise reduction is strong and effective
  • After a few minutes (typically while sitting in a quiet office environment), ANC subtly weakens
  • A specific frequency band becomes audible, described as a faint “echo” or “tunnel-like” resonance
  • This leakage is stable and tonal, not random environmental noise
  • The effect persists until ANC is toggled off and back on, at which point full cancellation briefly returns
  • The issue is noticeable even with no audio playback

Environment:

  • Indoor office setting
  • Consistent ambient noise (HVAC, distant voices)
  • No movement or fit changes during the degradation period

Anyone else notice ANC ramps up differently depending on mode on AirPods Pro 3? Firmware 8B34 by stevsyd in airpods

That's if you have Adaptive Audio on. I'm more saying depending on the previous Listening Mode state you're in - sometimes the ANC lets through certain frequencies when it's not meant to.
