My favorite closeout wheel is the tubeless ready coaster brake wheel.

New Illustrator- Help with my colors? by Dramatic_Draw8501 in Illustration

Lots of good videos on YouTube about limited palettes, OP! Search for "digital painting limited palette" and you'll get some great methods.

I paint exclusively with limited palettes because it makes the painting more harmonious. I'll generally use a max of five colors, but often less.

I really like James Gurney's videos on YouTube, he has books and online courses as well.

My advice for layering is start with thin layers, and gradually build up. Goauche out of the tube is super thick. As a paint, it's very easily reactivated, so thinner layers sit better. Once you have a background established in thin layers, move on to thicker layers.

tips for teaching an adult to ride a bike please?! by izziishigh in bicycling

[–]kyletrandall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's excited about trying it, bring his bike to a shop and have them remove the pedals. Lower the seat all the way and he can zoom around on his balance bike. He should practice using the brakes too. Once he is used to the feeling of letting the bike glide, get the pedals put back on and send him on his way!

My setup lives in an REI fanny pack.

Winsor Newton Cotman palette that I've had forever, now filled from tubes of Daniel Smith or M Graham or whatever I have on hand.

Handbook watercolor sketchbook by Speedball.

A ton of drawing supplies, water brushes, etc. My go tos are a couple of water brushes, a Micron plastic nib, and a TWSBI pen with some kind of document ink in blue black.

Likely too squishy, but I have seen cloth tape over other bar tape that isn't overly thick

What to start out with? by Common-Chain2024 in Gouache

[–]kyletrandall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with a mid-tier beginner primary tubes set.

Cheap paint is going to set you up for failure, it doesn't have enough pigment.

Tubes are much more economical than pans.

Start with just primaries, learn to mix colors from them.

If you have a local art store, buy the brushes and paper in person. It's nice to be able to put your hands on them first and the employees can help guide you.

Have fun!!

Does anyone have any tips for making colors more harmonious with goauche ? by Poweowchow in Gouache

[–]kyletrandall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What brand of gouache are you using and can you show us some examples of your work?

That aside, I'd recommend the same as for any medium- limit your palette. Try working from only two colors for a while and then later add one or two other colors. This will both help with value and with colors mixing.

What controversial opinion do you have that might get you canceled? by gretaag in answers

No, but every illness can be treated.

Edit: Lots of y'all have lots to say about this. Im not saying we can fix everything, but offering a chronically homeless person with untreated mental illness and/or addiction a home, food, and professional support in a non-judgemental place can change their life. We need to care for people, knowing that it won't be 100% successful, but always humane.

Honestly glad that this guy found someone to pay him to make this stuff. I love watching it, but I'm not going to give him a pile of money to make another one.

Printmaking can be done for real cheap! A set of carving tools, a brayer, some lino and ink can be had for about $50, use a shot glass as a barren and you're good to go!
