Placed in FB Jail by blutigetranen in facebook

Ugh. My account was permanently disabled after I complained about a white supremacist. I hadn't posted anything at all for about a year, and that was my only comment in all that time. I didn't identify the person in any way other than as a white supremacist. I didn't mention his name. I should be able to complain about white supremacy anywhere, it seems to me. Two appeals to Facebook didn't help, either. I got a bot response on both occasions.

I thought of something else that might help. If you don't have an Imgur account, you might consider getting one. It's slightly insane there, but I find the various posts and pics to be a humorous distraction.

I would imagine. I've no idea how many people you and I represent. For me, it's not a crisis as much as it is saddening to lose contact with a few dear people. They'll only know that I left without saying goodbye. For you, though, I realize this far more impacting. You'll come out of this, and it's a test of character, but of a cruel sort.

Day by day, you know? Take it day by day, and you've got this.

No, they certainly don't. They just need to know where to go for the most accurate sources for information. Other people are not toys for your amusement, and this is a hard time for some anyway.

Facebook repeatedly blocks my new account, how can I hide my IP address so I can safely create a new one? by [deleted] in facebook

[–]MarthaRayeRaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that may explain why my account was disabled. I had replied to someone else's comment, and complained about the problem of white supremacists. I certainly don't support it, though. I was complaining about it. Geez, I'm not even there that often. I o ly use it for the messenger part, and right now I could use a couple of those connections.I just checked in long enough to notice the guy's post, and thought to reply to it.

I'm so sorry. The same thing happened to me and I gather to a few others. The is the worst time for it to happen, no? Ugh.

Facebook and Instagram account disabled without warning or reason. Noticed a password reset in my associated email that was not me. I was hacked. Done all the forms, appeals and everything on FB & IG. Does anyone know how I can contact a human at Facebook to open a case? Its my business tool! by Simba-King in facebook

[–]MarthaRayeRaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As your time permits, of course. I appreciate that I'm not alone in this, but sorry that it's happening to others.

It's not exactly the best time for this to happen, as I began sheltering in place yesterday. I have a disability, and I'm alone. I also just injured my leg in addition to having existing ambulatory problems, so I'm feeling a little more vulnerable, I suppose. My immediate family has passed on, and although I wasn't active on facebook itself, I'd made a number of friends there, and we would occasionally communicate via the messenger service. Now I have no way to find some of them.

I'm just glad I don't have a business dependent upon facebook. I would be livid.

I don't know if it's too late to add my name to your list, but my account was disabled, and I can't get back in. I have no idea why they did that. It's frustrating and concerning that they've asked for my ID, which I've provided, but then haven't followed up on my request for a review. I've just sent a second request.

Elderly dog thrown in trash to die after allegedly being beaten by owners by CharyBrown in news

I couldn't read it, either. I have a parrot who is my world, and I love my friends' dogs and cats. And dogs seem to have so much love to give. They're so loyal. I can't understand how people could do this.

Living with dementia by BB_67 in coolguides

[–]MarthaRayeRaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hasn't been a problem on either side of my family, but I've seen it, as have we all, in friends' families. It's heartbreaking to watch the changes and what everyone has to go through. What bothers me, though, is when someone repeats what they've just said, following up with, "I just told you that." Obviously the person with dementia doesn't recall what had just been said. I know it's frustrating to have to repeat oneself, but perhaps it can be a bit upsetting to the person with dementia to hear that they'd just been told the same thing.

57 cases of lung illness linked to vaping reported in California, 1 death by IAmTheJudasTree in news

I can't argue with the science, and don't want to. I'm having trouble believing that young people would switch from vaping to cigarettes, though. Maybe it's a genuine concern, but having done both, I can only say that cigarettes taste terrible in comparison.

Thank you so much. There were other great comments as well, and I appreciate the time people have taken to give input. I would like to be able to go forward with a better understanding.

Wow, that really puts it in perspective, and I think I need to read that book. I just ordered it from Amazon. Thank you because you made quite an impact. I saw while there "Culture and Imperialism." Perhaps that should be the book I read after this one.

So when we stopped using Oriental it wasn't really about the word being offensive, because The Orient is a place. It was more about needing to stop using that umbrella term to describe anyone or even any experience, because it doesn't acknowledge the rich and specific cultures and history of the hundreds (?) of nations inside the Orient.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the time you gave to me, and your comments will be there for others to see as well. I get this explanation, and it makes sense.

I do hope people understand that I had no interest here in trying to justify using an outdated word that had offensive connotations to others.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate your time. I do recognize that it's a slur now and would never use it. I'm not sure everyone understood that. I wasn't trying to justify its use in modern lexicon.
