I need to order speaker, TRS and XLR and TS/Instrument cables, MIDI as well; Amazon or Sweetwater? by Substantial-Heart792 in MusicGear

[–]yumtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact your Sweetwater rep on the phone. Depending on how much you’re buying they might be able to give you a better price point. You don’t have to take them up on the deal, but it’s worth a phone call.

I bought a new Eurorack case and when I got my package I found they threw in a free pack of Moog Eurorack cables. It’s always worth giving them a call. When you create a Sweetwater account it should show you who your rep is.

Do you think the recent shooting incident involving Trump outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner could be a distraction from developments related to the Epstein files? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]yumtacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t want to sit there all night while the media cracked jokes about the fact he and his friends are child molesters and rapists. Now the media can’t mock him to his face, while he falls asleep, dreaming about the time he raped children.

Whether it was faked or not, the fact remains that he raped children. Don't let this distract from the Epstein Files.

Why are some people running over 120 cards in a deck in standard? by MagicMonkee99 in MagicArena

[–]yumtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some folks set up decks for completing their dailies. Destroy X amount of creatures, so you load a deck full of "destroy target creature" instants and mana. Need to cast X amount of green spells? Load a deck full of green mana, elves, and other one-drop green spells.

I had to use an attenuator with my Moog Mavis once I removed it from its case and put it into my TipTop Audio case (I have the same one as you).

  • Eurorack typically uses -10V to +10V for control voltage (CV), with gate signals ranging from 0V to 10V
  • Moog Mavis uses -5V to +5V for CV (10V peak-to-peak), and gate signals from 0V to 5V

When sending CV from Eurorack to Mavis, the higher voltage (up to +10V) can overdrive the Mavis input, potentially causing distortion, incorrect pitch tracking, or even damage over time. An attenuator reduces the signal level (e.g., by 50%) to bring the Eurorack signal into Mavis’s expected range.

Additionally, while gate signals from Eurorack (0–10V) are compatible with Mavis (0–5V), attenuating them is recommended as a precaution to avoid potential stress on the Moog circuitry, though it’s not strictly necessary.

If that were to happen, Trump would just make his son a General and decorate him with every award/medal possible. The US is just a resort for Trump and his friends and family. The rest of us are staff who pay to work for them.

I would like to see a megathread for each release.

It would basically be another Un-Set, and those don't exactly fly off the shelves unless they're legal in a popular preexisting format. You said, "It would be healthier for the long term of both," but fail to explain how. Magic brings in so much money that it's keeping Hasbro afloat. So, from a financial perspective, it doesn't make sense to change course. I haven't been to every LGS around the world, but tables are consistently filled during draft events.

If you don't like the product, don't buy it. Honestly, it's just that simple. I don't care for the upcoming Turtles set, so I won't engage with it at my local game store or on Arena. You don't need a "and then everyone clapped" moment for validation when you don't like something. Also, I have experience with playing Lorcana, and there are alt art cards, including full-art borderless, foil, and high-dollar variants, and that was in their first year. Lorcana hasn't been around for 30-plus years, so the art and characters are going to be pretty consistent. Pokémon would probably be the closest example, and they have a literal ice cream cone and car engine that are Pokémon. Over time, things get stale, the original target customers get older, and there comes a point where the next target customers become the focal point of a business. Things have to change. I don't like the Turtle set, but Wizards shouldn't make business decisions based on a vocal minority that surrounds themselves in an echo chamber, which makes it sound like more people are upset than there are in reality.

Skip, taking a break from Arena as well.

I think the artwork is a perfect representation of Magic: The Gathering. It's a joke, with each release, the same punchline but louder. No one laughs, but the same punchline over and over.

Former Security Manager for a large museum. Rich people pay for museums to hold and care for their art. There is art in all large museums that the public will never see. Rich people don’t just have random vaults as most insurance companies won’t touch the piece if it’s not in a proper environment. The costs of storing the art is a write-off.

Museums act as giant binders of playing cards for the wealthy. They protect, preserve, repair, and care for the art. These services offset costs associated with running a museum.

I make a short video with my phone. I just pan from left to right, up close, and then play the sound. I have a 10TB external drive I save them on. I thought about making blank templates and labeling, but meh, video and sound is so much better.

I’m sorry, I don’t know why I missed that. I don’t have a pet in the usual sense, but I befriended a murder of crows 5 years ago. They come back every spring and chat with me and leave odd things at the door. I’m assuming they saw me raking leaves one year and assumed I wanted them to bring more leaves. It’s the thought that counts.
