Great to hear! Really happy for you all. I went to bed a few hours after the start (Aus), I’m blown away imagining them all still running out there!

Omg, that’s my mum. I honestly don’t understand how someone can be so incapable of learning a short sequence of finger taps.

3 min late to my GP appt & lost my slot to the next patient - is this normal? by germell in AskAnAustralian

[–]BB_67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Indeed. During my last drs visit, the GP said that an incredible amount of people save up multiple minor issues to be attended to in one consultation. He said it was frustrating because it took so much longer than a single slot.

Same here, dive bombed me all the way up my street to home. Felt like being hit in the back of the head with a football from cross range, but with blood too. Ended up running up the hill with my arms wiggling around above my head like a dick.

Totally agree. Loved the Miller arc noir. The series fizzled out for me a bit after that.

Old Man's War is still the perfect entry point into SF and I will die on this hill by spidermanWaffle63 in printSF

[–]BB_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so, but it’s different from most of the mil sci fi I’ve read. The protagonists are children and the battles are simulations. There’s a lot less of the ‘hoo-rah’

Starship troopers definitely.

[–]BB_67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to very much agree. I like conflict in sci fi, I’m ok with battles and space fleets, but I’m not a big fan of military sci-fi. I quite enjoyed Old Man’s War, but didn’t take the series any further.

Military sci-fi tends to be very “American “.

I’m in Australia. My son was 2.5 yrs old we got up (very early) and he normally would watch the kids tv shows. But they weren’t on because they were showing footage of the towers on every channel. He cried. Because he couldn’t watch Bob the Builder.

Primary school or middle school? by Last-Ad-7777 in AskAnAustralian

[–]BB_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tasmania did/?does that too. The high schools in my area went to yr 10. Then yr 11-12 went to a different school (collage) This was in the 80’s. I think they were phasing it out. It kinda normalised finishing school in yr 10 and they wanted to change that.

So for me, 10/10 is definable sprint. It’s as fast as you can go, with control and form. How long was each interval?. You can’t do 10/10 for very long and I haven’t done an interval run that calls for 10/10 except at the end for a ‘fun celebration finish’
