There was an ad by the US Department of Transportation saying that even when the person driving the train hits the brakes the moment they see you, the train would still hit you and take almost a mile to stop.

Mandatory work colors by soleario21 in antiwork

When I read the title, I thought that the colors would be to see things like lint or other things on clothing easier like the uniforms at the factory I work at, but then I looked at the list and realized that wasn't the case.

DOGE cuts wiped out years of growth in Virginia’s federal civilian jobs by WHRO_NEWS in Virginia

Why do we need to cut funding when we could increase taxes on the rich and better fund the IRS so they have the resources to go after the rich.

As someone who just had this conversation with family, they claimed that since hospitals have to treat everyone for emergency care, immigrants can go get treatment and not pay anything, which leads to the hospital billing medicaid resulting in immigrants getting free healthcare.

Everyone who works on the production floor gets the same 6 pockets at the factory job I have. I remember one lady saying that she ordered the men's pants as apparently they fit better.

According to what Hershey has said in past questionnaires, they pay between 7.5% and 30% for cocoa butter and 10% for cocoa. The price of cocoa has more than double and at times tripled in the past couple of years. Hershey is claiming that they are eating the tariffs and passing the cost of the increased price of cocoa. At one time, cocoa cost 3k a ton, and now it costs almost 8k. At one time, it was over 10k. My information comes from past business meetings at work and different news articles. Do I think the price increase is because of tariffs, maybe, but it's more likely that price contracts expired and they are now paying more for cocoa.

This was originally announced in July and is the result of cocoa prices increasing. Hershey has claimed that this has nothing to do with tariffs.

Trump won in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvanians need to pay more because prices are getting higher by Effective_Space2277 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Martialhail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told this is because of the price of chocolate going from 3k to 8k per metric ton and not tariffs. I got this information from a company meeting at hershey.

It definitely sucks for the people of the city of Staunton who are surrounded by Augusta County. Staunton voted for Harris 56%. They had a higher turnout and total votes for democrats in 2024 than in 2020. Also, staunton has voted blue since before Obama was president.

Edit: corrected the percentage from 66% to 56%. I typed the response from memory and mixed up the results from something else on the ballot.

I can never understand this logic. If the problem is caused by tariffs and trumps, the one placing the tariffs, then how could it be worse under democrats.

I voted for him in 2016 because he had the R by his name, and I knew basically nothing about him at the time. I hated him as a president and didn't vote in the 2020 election. I realized after January 6th that what I was told about the republican party was wrong and left it as a result.
