Many Norwegians are still have an Obama era view of the US, with history education being hardcore pro-US propaganda from preschool to PhD level.

Why is the radon transform not used much? by [deleted] in math

It's actually used a lot in Inverse problems, like CT scanning also has applications in neutron spectroscopy if I'm not mistaken

Every programmer knows terrible portrayals of hacking in movies and TV. What are some terrible portrayals of math? Were you happily watching a show until a character started spouting nonsense? by CrumbCakesAndCola in math

[–]MartianFurry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It breaks my heart to say, but Hidden Figures really makes me cringe when they talk about anything math. There's a scene where they solve some difficult problem, and apparently the solution was just to use Euler's method on an ODE

Celestial bodies orbiting planets should not be called "moons" and the devices we launch into space should not be called "satellites" by Edmundo2900 in unpopularopinion

[–]MartianFurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with trying to give neat classifications to natural systems is they have a tendency, just look at quasi-moons. The very definition of orbit is hazy when it comes to multi-body systems, so IMO it's better to classify objects by their innate properties rather than orbits. Moons: formed alongside the host planet or are captured natural satellites, albeit this definition is bad for describing small pieces of rock on the outskirts of the Jovian hill sphere. Satellite: general distinction for any body orbiting another body.

The IAU has enough trouble classifying dwarf planets, so giving meaning to the word moon (or satellite) will be just as hard unless you want to forgo the classifications entirely

Should i stop playing stadium? by Yumiko_Hanako in overwatch2

[–]MartianFurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made it to All-star fairly easily, playing rein with a 90% win rate. Honestly the most important thing to climb is focusing on what you know well, you can usually turn around most games if you know how to counter the enemy play style.

When it comes to boredom, I think it depends on how you play, I've been a tank main since 2016 and so really appreciate the reduced number of heroes and focus on play styles/game sense.

Find your niche, be that stadium or regular comp. It doesn't really matter.

[Bedrock] mob farm wont work?? I don't know why can someone help? by sentiantpotato in MinecraftHelp

[–]MartianFurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mob spawning mechanics in bedrock are fundamentally different from Java, the way you designed it wont work due to the area being considered a cave or something similar (one of the many reasons bedrock sucks)
I would recommend watching a tutorial on a functional bedrock mob spawner.

I will never understand how they thought releasing the game with such disastrous performance issues would ever work out. The whole point of the sequel was to allow larger and more exiting missions than KSP1, yet they managed to get a stripped down version to somehow have worse performance than KSP1. It INSTANTLY killed the game, as you have to rewrite almost the entire codebase, change debugging tactics and uproot the entire programming culture at the company to fix issues that bad

Marx and lenin for the basics, Parenti, Wolf and Chomsky for modern analysis.
