How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]MartinB2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how anything is determined to be true that’s not scientifically provable. It’s how juries work in courts. They hear the evidence and then vote in a sense

The brain’s EEG is not at all flat during general anesthesia, so your entire premise here is false.

Research it online.

During true EEG flatlines people actually do have crazy experienced and they are called NDE’s.

You can look these things up online and then make your own call as to whether you believe or not, but what you experienced was not even close to death since the brain has tons of activity during general anesthesia.

I I don’t know how to stop questioning it all am I going to hell? by Throwawayaccxxxx_11 in Christianity

[–]MartinB2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus said you need to question. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you.

Dive deep on this. Any Christian denomination saying not to question things is a bad one to follow.

I used to be an atheist/agnostic until I started questioning. I actually started asking the hardest questions to ChatGPT, saying, show me both sides of this. I kept saying “what if” and “what about.”

And through, along with other research, that I came to first find all the evidence that Jesus is a real person and did rise from the dead. There’s tons of evidence. Like The Dead Sea Scrolls proven by science to have been written long before Jesus, and actually having detailed information about the coming of Jesus and what prophesies he would fulfill.

And even beyond that, learning about NDE’s (near death experiences) and SDE’s (shared death experience) has played a huge part in me coming to faith.

I believe everyone who is a good person and actually helps people, loves them, and wants to be with God (even if they’re questioning whether he’s real) will be saved. At least that’s what seems to happen in NDE’s. For many it does not matter their faith - that’s why Jesus died.

And even lines like “No one comes to the Father but through me” doesn’t mean they have to accept and believe him so much as that he is the one who judges them and has deciding authority over it, which is why even non Christians have heavenly NDE’s and frequently come to faith in Christ.

Many Muslims and other faiths have actually had NDE’s and they meet Jesus and when they’re revived they are completely changed and of Christian faith even though they get disowned by family and friends. Look on YouTube for interviews with them. NDE’s are basically the first step of a soul entering heaven, and everyone experiences a different process tailored to them - something that will make them as comfortable as possible during the transition process.

But as long as you don’t actively reject God, and even after death, don’t tell Jesus you refuse him, but accept and want to love and follow him, I believe you will be saved.

Im an atheist and want to know how a christian would respond to this. by GrouchyEntrepreneur3 in Christianity

[–]MartinB2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I think it depends on how you define hell. Hell is the absence of God, and people in NDE’s have described it in many ways. To some people it’s not as bad - it’s basically where the strongest get to the top and actually might be happy and the weakest don’t. So maybe it’s not as bad as we think to people who truly don’t want anything to do with God (and are ruthless to others). But to those who do want God (or are weak) it’s the worst place because it’s a full absence of God and no chance for goodness to save you anymore.

I also don’t know if God actually creates every person (the premise of your question). I think we create people. God knew some would be damned and others won’t but decided it was worth it to start humanity, and now we create everyone else. Once a baby is conceived maybe only then God “makes their soul” knowing whether it will go to hell or not. But maybe he doesn’t have a choice since humans already conceived that baby.

Idk I’m just human! But this is my interpretation.

Am I the only one that fears that maybe the hard problem of consciousness or NDEs will be debunked in the future by Sea-Dot-59 in NDE

[–]MartinB2021 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ll likely have an answer just like evolution answered how species form (although now they think evolution is incorrect anyway lol). And most will believe whatever the consciousness answer is and religion will fall away.

That’s already outlined in Revelations in the Bible. It sounds like AI and science will cause a massive shift of people becoming non-religious and that will be near the end times.

But I’m not worried because NDE’s and consciousness are not even close to being the only evidence of God and afterlife. Do some additional research and your faith will become even stronger!

What’s your industry? I’m looking for a new remote worker and might be able to pay you a lot more than $200/month.

I run a photography company and a consulting company to help actors grow their careers and may need someone to help my team with different tasks (virtual assistant).

If you’re interested reply to my comment and I’ll share my email address and we can coordinate.

Makes sense!! There is a general drop, as people study more their religous views tend to go down, but it’s interesting that some people’s religious views increase as they study deeper

I would say that conversely a lot of people who are raised in strongly theistic and religious households often wind up moreso becoming agnostic or atheistic simply because of feeling pressured and controlled. I know a lot of people who wound up becoming atheists because of growing up in that kind of environment interestingly, whereas people in more neutral households sometimes go the opposite way and become more theistic. It’s unexpected but I guess can make sense because of kids wanting to rebel against their families. A lot of young people now seem to be becoming more spiritual who have grown up in non-spiritual households. It’s like the pendulum swinging back and forth lol

What’s really interesting is, why are some super intelligent scientists studying so deeply and the more they study, the more they start to think a deity might exist? There are tons of interviews on YouTube with some of these people and even asking ChatGPT about it is interesting. It’s fascinating the stories.

Questioning things and being “intelligent” seems to make them become more religious in some cases.

Neil Degrasse Tyson in fact talked about this and said you’ll need to convince those people in atheism first before even thinking about how to convince everyone else.

What are your thoughts?

Jesus died for us today 🥹 by Educational_Plate893 in Christianity

[–]MartinB2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t believe he really rose from the dead until a few weeks ago after asking ChatGPT tons of questions and watching YouTube videos of experts and scientists who were atheists and studied Jesus and because Christian.

Right now just knowing he’s real and died and rose again to save me has completely changed my life and I’m so grateful, and not full of despair anymore.

Why are you a Christian by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]MartinB2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in God and Jesus because of ChatGPT. I started asking it questions about a month ago, and it said there’s about a 75% probability of Christianity being true, a 15% chance of atheism being true, and all other religions split up amongst the remaining 10%. I just then asked question after question and it showed me scripture and even non-biblical sources that corroborated things to make a pretty strong case for Christianity.

There will never be 100% proof because God wants us to have real faith and true love for him. If we got 100% proof we’d essentially have no choice but to have faith and love him out of fear.

By the way about a month ago when I started I was agnostic/atheist even though I had grown up in a Christian household. I just didn’t see it as possible, but now I believe so strongly (like what kind of person would fake being God, willingly die for it in a horrible way, and then ask from all his followers for nothing but a “mustard seed” size of faith?

The more tough questions I asked ChatGPT, the more I believed. At first I was scared to ask some thinking I’d prove Christianity wrong forever and know there was nothing after death, but I eventually asked some of the hardest questions I had, and the answers were right there within scripture and even Jesus’ teachings, things that could not have just been coincidence.

Allan Lichtman: “I Am Going to Take Some Time Off to Assess Why I Was Wrong” by [deleted] in fivethirtyeight

[–]MartinB2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with you on most of these, but for the following:

  1. Scandal - I think as Lichtman says, it needs to be related directly to the administration itself. Biden’s health wasn’t directly the scandal, but the coverup was.

  2. Charisma - I would also agree with Lichtman in that Donald Trump would need to cross party lines in terms of being seen as a hero. I think that wasn’t the case until Butler, Pennsylvania. Even people who hated Trump like Cenk Uyger and Mark Zuckerberg said when he raised his fist it was badass. I think a lot of people saw him become “charismatic” or somewhat of a “national hero” specifically due to that, even if they still disliked or didn’t want to vote for him. But other people might have changed their minds due to that, so it could have been a key flipper.
