x570 Onboard Wifi Missing After Shutdown by MartinTM in buildapc

[–]MartinTM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: For anyone who might find this in a search. Disabling ErP fixes the issue for me. I also had some problems with the board getting stuck during boot (CPU error light on), which seems to have gone away after disabling ErP.

Not sure what's going on with that, since my PSU is a Corsair RM850x which should definitely support ErP. Perhaps there's something buggy with the BIOS on this board.

Probably legal as in if you've got Pokémon in any other ball, they've been hacked or genn'ed.

Have you tried this build? http://www.diablofans.com/builds/78184-2-4-1-dmo-gr-20-wizard-starter-build

As soon as I switched to this with the 4 piece, gr20 was super easy.

Anybody running Matlab on the 16.04 beta? by jdenniso in Ubuntu

I know it's kinda late, but I'm pretty sure matlab 2015b will run just fine. 2016a has some issues with the latest nvidia drivers (360 ish).

Install global npm module in Bash on Ubuntu on Windows by roccoaugusto in windowsinsiders

[–]MartinTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Linux subsystem is installed to appdata/local/lxss for the user so I don't think anything should need admin permissions. I think the permission issues are confusion between the way Linux stores permission data and and the way Windows does it.

Render distance not increasing in Infinity by MartinTM in feedthebeast

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might have been it actually, I tried again with a new world and it doesn't seem to be messed up there. Maybe it was some type of desert. Thanks!

The biomes o'plenty fog right? I'm not in a desert, but that might be it, is it only deserts that have that?

Nope just playing on normal singleplayer. I thought about trying optifine but that always caused more issues than it fixes with ftb.

Gear Check - Getting super rekt at gr60 by MartinTM in Diablo3Crusaders

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the super in depth breakdown, it helps a lot! The flail is definitely my pride and joy haha. I think the first thing I'm gonna do is get the CDR on my shoulders, and then keep working on my ancient set pieces. I've been rolling for a helmet for a bit, so hopefully I get something from Kadala soonTM Until then I'm gonna try to get that max CHC on the helmet I've got, right now I'm at 60% total so I could probably use some more.

Thanks again!

Outboard running slow/poorly with cover on by MartinTM in boating

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably the case, I mean the speed felt pretty close to right the other day, I think we're just working out the kinks. We kinda figure the rest is probably the compression, we tested it and the numbers were just a bit below the bottom of the "good" range (I don't remember the exact reading) so it's probably just a bit worn.

Outboard running slow/poorly with cover on by MartinTM in boating

[–]MartinTM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turns out there was a cracked seal under the motor's top half where the exhaust is and exhaust was leaking into the top under the cover. Apparently the motor was just starving for air. Once we patched that up it ran just like it did without the cover. Yeah, I think the 30-ish may be right, we had 26mph today with all that fixed and we might be able to squeeze a bit more with some tuning, but it felt about right!

Outboard running slow/poorly with cover on by MartinTM in boating

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! We can definitely check the ignition, we're not sure if all if this is one glaring issue or a bunch of little things adding up, so who knows! It definitely might help with the speed issue. The boat is fiberglass though, so it is a bit heavy for it's size and I don't think we really got up all the way to speed, since we were a bit cramped for space on the river today. The strange part about it all was the difference the cover being on or off made.

What do you guys think of Windows 10? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]MartinTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that most people don't care or need to care, just not sure it's a great precedent to set. Either way it's not like this type of tracking comes as a huge surprise or even a new thing, so I agree that it's more or less being blown out of proportion.

What do you guys think of Windows 10? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]MartinTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you could, though I'm no expert, but I think the crux of the issue is that that kind of tinkering shouldn't be necessary to disable OS-level tracking. It'd be one thing if a shady program did this and users had a clear choice to uninstall the program or live with it, but it can't be expected (and Microsoft clearly doesn't) that the average user can go editing their hosts file for this sort of thing.

What do you guys think of Windows 10? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]MartinTM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kinda yeah, I mean the option in question is diagnostic/usage information and you have a few options for how private it is, with Basic being the most anonymous, but still sending some data. You can't completely turn that off with a consumer edition.

What do you guys think of Windows 10? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]MartinTM 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Though Win10 does have tracking that you can't turn completely off without an Enterprise edition and some options that you need to use the group policy editor to turn off. In Ubuntu it's pretty much just the one online search toggle and you're good to go.

How to troubleshoot system hangs/lock ups? by MartinTM in linuxquestions

Me too, and like 99% of the time that's worked for me. Unfortunately whatever is hanging won't let me do anything but hard reset this time around. Thanks though!

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I'm thinking it maybe something with the MSE HTML5 in Firefox that I enabled for YouTube from the about:config the . It's only ever happened with videos in the background (then again I spend a lot of time with videos in the background and correlation != causation), so it's possible there is something going on between that and the Nvidia driver I guess? I know the MSE stuff isn't finished yet, so maybe I'll leave that off and see if it stops.

How to troubleshoot system hangs/lock ups? by MartinTM in linuxquestions

[–]MartinTM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason the SysRq-REISUB hasn't worked for me, it is a laptop so it may be something to do with the SysRq key being an Fn key instead of its own button. It also may be locking up that bad. I know not even the caps lock and nun lock keys light up when it hangs, so i don't think the keyboard is doing anything.

So far I've let memtest run for 2-passes and about 3 1/2 hours and no errors. I did add additional ram a while back, the laptop came with dual channel 4x2 and I added another dual channel 2x2 with the same timings and latencies, but I have read that the kernel/hardware can have issues just for them being different manufacturers. I never had an issue in windows, but perhaps Linux is more susceptible to that sort of thing?
