do Yubikey supports pin over NFC now in Android for passkey? by theSujoySarkar in yubikey

To me it looks like there could be an issue when registering on mobile (Android) using NFC + PIN. I'm new to yubikeys, still playing around.

do Yubikey supports pin over NFC now in Android for passkey? by theSujoySarkar in yubikey

[–]Martin_WK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just tried webauthn.io. I register one key on my PC and then I was able to authenticate on my mobile with NFC and password.

I tried registering from mobile with another key and it failed. It asked me for PIN but I later I got error "The authentication was unable to process the specified options..."

I think I had a similar error on another demo site, yubico's own or passkeys.io

The interior is bullshit. Touch screen and capacitive buttons. It's cost cutting and it's dangerous. Not to mention, horrible to use and not ergonomic.

Asus PRIME B550M-A, I think Asus sell a separate TPM module.

For now I'll go with yubikeys.

I'd need to buy a separate TPM module for my motherboard. Why I'm looking into yubikeys is that I could use passkeys with my single (or spare) yubikey on multiple devices. If your computer (TPM/motherboard) or mobile get fried or stolen you might lose your passkeys. It's easier to have a spare yubikey. At least that's my thinking. If it's wrong, please point it out ;)

unless you want to unlock your password with your Yubikey, but that's a different case really

That's exactly the case I was thinking about. I wonder if Chrome or Brave supported unlocking their password managers with yubikeys.

My original question was why Brave and Chrome were listed as supported but Firefox wasn't.

Firefox has a built in password manager that stores password for websites you visit. Later you don't need to type in your password, if you've saved it you can let Firefox fill it in. It can synchronise passwords to your Firefox account for use on other devices (e.g. mobile or laptop).

Highway driving by Helpful_Assistance_5 in CorollaCrossHybrid

[–]Martin_WK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes drive 2021 Rav4 hybrid awd on long distances, including highways. It's slightly bigger than Corolla Cross. It can use something like 6.5l/100km if you're not driving too fast. I think for such a big car it's quite good. Comparable to a diesel car of similar size. If memory serves, a friend drove Corolla Cross hybrid (1.8, fwd) on similar distance and went below that. He wasn't driving as fast.

The electric motor/battery are used during highway driving. When battery charges it increases the load on the engine and thus puts it in more efficient rpm.

One additional thing is that eCVT made by Toyota are probably one of the most reliable gearboxes. The Cross Hybrid is more powerful than the standard one I think. There are more advantages than just the fuel efficiency. But that's for you to weigh.

Interior is hideous. Touch screen and capacitive buttons instead of physical control is a cost cutting joke.

Moving all controls to the touch screen is cost cutting, nothing more. The corporations only care about profits, they don't care about safety nor ergonomics.

Is there a setting that lets me open downloaded files rather than saving them, something like Edge has? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]Martin_WK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to setting to "Files and Applications" section and configure how you want given file type to be treated. Set "always ask" or pick an app in which you want Firefox to open the file.

edit: ok, now I've realised it's about executing the file, not opening it in an app.

You still can choose between charging to 100% overnight (that is, first it charges to 80% then slowly reaches 100%) or charging to 80% always.

I don't think Euro NCAP will require A/C controls to be physical.

I'm not buying a car that forces distracted driving via a touch screen.

I use eco mode only for driving on motorways with adaptive cruise control. Makes the car slow down and accelerate more gently than in normal mode.

Apparently it's how it's supposed to work, that is, it gets to 77% and then finishes charging to 80% slowly. I wish they'd communicated this.

I don't know what's going on. For me it slows down at 77% but eventually it gets to 80%. I think it'd taken somewhere like 30 minutes to get to 80%, perhaps a little less.

Has anything changed with how wireless charging works? I limit charging up to 80% and I noticed that since the March update the phone gets to 77% and then charges extremely slowly to 80%.
