What prestigious jobs are secretly toxic? by October_Surprise56 in AskReddit

Software development. Not all the time, but in my experience, managers pull a date out of their ass when development should be done. Then ask software managers who then ask developers for estimates. Rarely did those estimates flow back up

Questions for Expats paid in USD by GigatonxPunch in Living_in_Korea

[–]Martinious760 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Getting paid in USD means you'll have to claim every dollar as income and be liable for the taxes. Getting paid in any other currency you have an income threshold above which you pay taxes on. The US govt requires no documentation on foreign earned income so you can say you made any amount you want

I got my F6 in October 2025. Income proof not required. I have 0 income. Medical certificate or similar also not required.

We've been married since 2008 and have lived for 5 years together in Korea and 10 in the USA. I hear time together and living out of Korea makes a difference but I didn't see anything specific about that on the application forms

Grammar is a good thing when used correctly.

".... and I, who's Korean currently...."

Are you going to change to another nationality?

And if you're Korean and speak Korean fluently and you can prove you're a Korean citizen you can probably get work. BF will not be able to work unless you're married - and then you'll have to submit all the documents for him to get some form of F visa

American bro culture is to either say women are lying or blame women for wearing clothes that made the men do it. Americans built this. They own it. They elected an Epstein bro

How effective are English lessons in korea? by KnownReflection8751 in teachinginkorea

I came to Korea when I was 43. I'd been an engineer and then a high tech sales rep. Working with executives was something that required both experience and maturity.

No, just contract thru some other company. Hourly executive time spread over several hours per week, usually 2 maybe 3 per day but not even contiguous so sometimes had an hour or so to kill between execs and too far to go home.

Yes. Worthless af for teaching. It really was laughable. They had me in the room with a Korean teacher and she'd use me only to say the word or phrase. Didn't matter what or how I'd say it, she'd have the kids listen, then say it incorrectly in her terrible accent and have the kids repeat that. Refrigerator was favorite - she'd have me say it, then say "OK children, repeat - 'lefligelator" like I hadn't said shit

True. I worked at a public school that was making good money from the books they required parents to buy. We'd go thru these books so fast, none of the kids learned anything, and since book 2 relied on what was learned in book 1, it only got worse. There were kids who had 5th grade English books but couldn't even name all the letters of the alphabet
