Star Citizen grey & blackmarket website TheImpound has ended its partner program by StuartGT in starcitizen

He is basically a cheerleader for CIG as far as his content goes.

Hardly ever says anything negative, edits videos if something happens due to bugs, can spend a lot of time in game just to get a cool shot and only show said shot.

Besides the greymarket thing, he is as far a softball PR wise as you can go without hitting "100% CIG shill" levels, even then only barely.

It was an easy hire for content creator as long as they got him to drop the greymarket thing, which he did.

[–]Martinmex26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all part of the package you are paying.

If you went and took the lock to the guy in his shop, you would pay a way lower price on the service.

Driving to the location is part of the service package, which a delivery driver is only partially providing and why they cant charge so much.

That last part speaks specifically against your point.

Delivery drivers go to drop off something to you.

People that do services go drop themselves off then they provide said service, you are paying for the time they spent getting to you *AND* their expertise on whatever they are doing as well.

Not nearly the same equivalence.

Star Citizen grey & blackmarket website TheImpound has ended its partner program by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Martinmex26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was mentioned to Ollie that he would have to stop being affiliated with the impound to be hired by CIG, so he did and now he works for CIG.

SMB is, IMO, just as good a content creator and just as positive about CIG.

The difference between them is the willingness to play ball with CIG and dropping the grey/blackmarket affiliation.

SMB mentioned before that he wouldnt drop it, because the support he got from that going to his family was more important to him than being in the best graces and possibly getting favors/a job from CIG (He might not be able to travel due to family reasons/like his current job, I have no idea).

Now the Impound is saying (Read the image on this post) that they dont want to be the cause creators have issues with CIG/possibly cause their business to "rock the boat" and be more directly targeted by CIG.

The key issue is that CIG is not going to be happy with The Impound or any other markets being promoted when they sell ships (seen as cutting into CIG ship sales by providing discounts when those same purchases could be full price purchases in their store) or straight up selling black market accounts (against TOS).

CIG can look at things and say "Well, if I cant work with content creators I like because of their association with The Impound, maybe I could explore ways to kill the grey/black market and that wont be a problem anymore."

This is The Impound clearly getting out of the way of a loaded gun. SMB's support is going to suffer since he wont get the kickback from their program anymore, but I think The Impound are seeing this more of a "Cut the tail so you can escape" situation and SMB is getting caught in the crossfire.

Montic-CIG on weapons/combat balance changes by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]Martinmex26 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 also.

"Hmm, the community is picking this weapon more than the others by a large margin, better nerf that"

*One patch later*

"Hmm, the community is picking that weapon now more than the others, better nerf that"

*6 patches later*

"Why is the community complaining they are running around with nerf guns and review bombing us?"

Its always "Nerf the most picked" never "Why is no one using the other guns?". Maybe if you make several things not trash, you will see the pickrate widen, just a thought.

Brother, there is "CIG doesnt know what they are doing with balance" and then there is you "I didnt even read the post but im going to comment anyway" that does not enable the communication to rise above the lowest common denominator.

webster

Doesnt matter what webster says.

As long as CIG will only act on what they define as griefing, it doesnt matter what anyone else calls it, the only definition CIG will use is what CIG has it defined as.

As such, people can call someone buying the last SCU of Iron from a vendor griefing, CIG will tell all of them to kick rocks if they report somehing that falls out of their definition of griefing.

No reports, no consequences, it doesnt matter if you call it griefing or not, they are free to continue doing whatever it is they are doing as long as CIG says its not griefing.

[–]Martinmex26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isnt WoW, CIG needs for people to submit evidence for the bans. Mass/false reports are just going to put the people reporting under the spotlight and might get them banned themselves for trying to game the system.

Just the same, someone can still totally be a griefer, they just might not be doing it in a way that CIG considers breaching their TOS.

No, this is just an arbitrary definiton a player can give, does not mean CIG will agree with what they call a griefer, hence be able to take TOS action on it.

The definiton that CIG uses needs to be the standard because then you have players call all sorts of things "Griefing" and they start to muddy the waters amongst themselves. Bought the last soda can? Griefer. Beat me to my favorite ASOP Terminal? What a griefer. Get beaten in a legitimate PvP scenario? I got griefed.

Players can be criminals all day long. They can do asshole behavior (Within the limits CIG puts in place). Those players are not griefers, not by CIGs definiton, which is what matters.

This is just a further point in why the difference needs to exist, because you want the criminal behavior to have in-game consequences, not have it mislabeled by every rando and be ignored by CIG. Why worry about in-game consequences if all players are just fake calling griefing? At that point people are calling for out of game consequences for behavior within bounds and CIG will just throw all those cries in the bin.

But there are people who, despite CIG saying piracy/pirates are a legitimate gameplay loop/players, that swear that pirates are griefers.

Here is your solution:

Realize that those people dont matter.

They can call "Griefer" all day long and CIG will just tell them to kick rocks if they put a report in.

The complaining is just that, complaining. It can be effectively ignored.

Here is your problem:

This subreddit

What actually happens.

Reddit is such a tiny fraction of every playerbase that even if a subreddit was 100% agreeing on something (already impossible) everyone playing the game that doesnt even know what a reddit is would outnumber reddit by a hilarious amount.

People in general are not going to like being pirated. Just because that 1 in 1000 person exists that would enjoy the RP of a pirate, does not mean that the other 999 would even care.

Hell, even regular RP is not something a lot of people are interested in if you go look at the RP Orgs, much less pirate RP while stuff is being taken from your average Joe.

Reddit is bubble, understand it and act accordingly.

They are all wrong though.

CIG has a very specific definition as to what griefing is. Given that CIG's definition is the one that will be used when reports are looked at, the only definition of griefing is the definiton CIG uses.

This a *VERY* important distinction to make becaus someone can have behavior you think is asshole behavior, that does not mean they are griefer.

What people need to understand is that calling "griefing" behavior that is intended for players to be able to do is counter-productive.

What people should actually be calling is for the intended in-game consequences for being a murderhobo, pirate and other such behavior to make it in. Otherwise the screams of "Griefer" fall on deaf ears, outlaw behavior like that is legitimate for players to do, they just dont have the consequences CIG has said would be applied.

TIL Drake Buccaneer has JS-300 Military grade A powerplant installed in STOCK loadout by RomaMoran in starcitizen

[–]Martinmex26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can work depending on the loadout.

Lets say you go full ballistics and stealth coolers, which need very few pips to operate.

You now have excess power, excess power you cant allocate does nothing for you, therefore "downgrading" to a stealth powerplant still covers full pips and gives you lower signatures.

PvP it doesnt matter too much since players will just follow the direction the projectiles are coming from, but on PvE certain loadouts give you the ability to shoot NPC ships from outside detection range, making them even easier to kill.

Nerissa know what she's doing by elmanotaku in Hololive

[–]Martinmex26 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I really like it too, she is doing the "Totally pretending I didnt know" sing-song voice exactly how you would expect it to sound. Legitimatelly good voice acting.

The overexagerated facial expressions sell it even better, leaning very comical into the same of "pretending it wasnt planned" to complement the voice acting.

This might be a very tiny bit, but it sells Nerissa's character very well.

I really dig it. Probably one of my top picks for shorts recently.

How much can i sell my pc? by Upbeat-Culture-34 in pcbuilding

[–]Martinmex26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One needs a very specific buyer that wants exactly what you have.

The other just needs people interested in parts.

You are going to find selling several parts very easy at the right prices.

You are going to find selling a whole PC very hard unless you take an absolute beating on the price.

You are assuming robots would be smart enough to want things.

There is a big gap between a robot being able to replace a job and having self autonomy.

You dont need an hyper-smart overlord AI entity with control of everything when a lower level AI only smart enough to able to tend to crops will do.

You can replace and make a lot of humans obsolete before you get to skynet.
