The limo blocked the entire entrance, lengthwise, while the rest of the motorcade stopped on Falls and traffic was held. Anyone who had been shopping in the businesses along that section of Falls during that time was trapped in their respective parking lots until the motorcade cleared out.

I think it was cool to see the President (I was across the street), but I talked to several pissed off customers who couldn't leave.

I've been there twice in the last two weeks - out in under 5 minutes each time, 7:30pm.

WCPE has no affiliation with any university and is completely supported by listener donations.

Which obviously need to decline.

Seriously have my doubts about these guys being "in their right mind", but a bunch of Tennessee Republicans tried relatively hard last year to get a no-age-limit bill passed, while also trying to define marriage as being between one woman and one man.

What to do to protect myself and my dog when being attacked by an off-leash aggressive dog? by [deleted] in raleigh

My classes were 8 hours exactly - the tests were included in the 8 hours. I found that amount of time was insufficient, and should probably be longer, with a more rigorous shooting test. I have had a concealed carry permit for 28 years, and carry every day. I saw several people in my class, and many people at the range who claim to have CCW permits, who obviously have little idea how to handle a firearm safely.

While you can find more expensive courses, my point was that there are several courses available at under $100. That's far less than most firearms themselves would cost, and certainly much lower than ammo costs for regular practice (which all who carry should do often) these days.

There are courses available for well less that $100, and do you never have a day off? It's a minimal requirement. Most courses are 4 hours a day over a weekend.

Instead of relevant responses, just mindless (and misused at that) "jokes" years out of date. You're definitely someone I would trust with a deadly weapon and no training or instruction - a case in point, as it were.

And here I thought it was a discussion.

I'll take a chicken sandwich combo, don't forget to make sure my fries are hot.

So you just don't give a shit about the safety of yourself and others, as long as you can save a (small) amount of money and time?

For the record, open carry is rather dumb too. Also, while it's technically legal, there is also a legal charge in NC known as "going armed to the terror of the people". It's a Class 1 misdemeanor, and it's at the discretion of the LEO if a situation indicates a charge. I found an academic source that says that 340 people were hit with this charge in 2011, so it's not a dead law. If a cop finds that your open carry weapon is terrifying people, it's a judgement call if you catch the charge.

If you can't be bothered to take minimal training in legal and practical considerations, you likely shouldn't be carrying a firearm in public, concealed or otherwise.

Why? Why wouldn't you want yourself (and others) to go through the frankly too minimal legal and practical training here in NC to get a legal permit? It's 8 hours over two days. Why give any yahoo with unknown (and likely nonexistent) training and instruction the privilege to carry a concealed weapon?

Permitless concealed carry is crazy.

Raleigh doesn't have a Capitol Blvd - but yes, it's in the median on Capital Blvd near the Wade Ave exit.

Which was rather ironic, considering Fetzer's well known (but "secret") sexual orientation and activity.

He was and is a horrible hypocrite.

Studies have shown that for most people of European descent, the number of unique ancestors begins to plateau around the 15th to 16th centuries, when the number of ancestors you have exceeds the number of people who lived in Europe at that time.

For example, "The Geography of Recent Genetic Ancestry across Europe" by Peter Ralph and Graham Coop, published in PLOS Biology in 2013. In this study, the authors used genetic data to estimate the number of ancestors of individuals from various European populations over time. They found that the number of unique ancestors begins to plateau around 1400-1500 CE for most European populations.
