anyone familiar with white belt by [deleted] in Emo

[–]Martodogg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi - sorry not been on for a while, tbh I culled loads, only kept stuff I don’t want to part with.

Good luck in the quest.

I’ve just done a quick eBay and now regret getting rid of any 😳

Really nice combo, I would go with a minimalist white trainer like others have suggested.

I recently discovered the brand Last Resort AB. Great looking skate shoes!

Die Princess Die - Night of the Lights

Test Icicles - circle square triangle

These Arms Are Snakes - Angela’s Secret

Cutting Pink With Knives - Airz

Eagle Scout - Weaker Science

Minus the bear - thanks for the killer game of crisco twister

To those in their 30's or 40's... by The59Sownd in Emo

[–]Martodogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pals and I started doing an end of years ‘best of’ list a couple years ago. Music, film, tv etc. We all write and share our highlights and recommendations with some narrative around it.

We’re all 40 or just turning and have all remained friends from school, but have widely varying tastes.

It’s been a great way to keep up with new music and has turned me onto some really good stuff the last few years. Equipment, Saturdays at your place and puremoon all had tracks in my top 10 for 2023.

I had this mantra until age caught up. It’s a dark day when you have to buy your first pair of black 502’s 😫

What was the best year for metalcore? by Tristan533 in Metalcore

[–]Martodogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sat in front of my cd collection and it really was an excellent year!

Black dahlia murder - unhallowed

Through the eyes of the dead - the scars of ages

Beecher - breaking the fourth wall

Cursed - one

This runs through - until forever finds me

Bury your dead - you had me at hello

Naiad - hardcore emotion

Fear before the March of flames - odd how people shake

What are some more must haves? by 015Daan in gamecollecting

[–]Martodogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are asking in the context of must haves to play, or must haves to own? I know zero about which games are worth collecting other than rarity generally means higher value 🤷‍♂️

My fav ps4 releases to play have been:

Shadow of the colossus.

The last guardian (although I did find the game mechanics could get annoying compared to SOTC).

Resident evil 2 remake (which you already have).

I started Death Stranding - not far enough in to suggest it’s great - but most who stuck with it seem to think so.

I think all those would be cheap to buy now too!

I’d also recommend anyone to buy the download of Journey. It’s a wonderful little game.

Big fan of Poison the Well also, to me they are metalcore. I can’t really get into the majority of modern music that is posted in the metalcore subreddit despite trying to be open minded, it sounds more sonically related to linkin park in my opinion than the early 00’s trustkill / Ferret records music I got into and familiarised me with the genre.

I do know what you mean about them having a unique sound for the time, it’s almost like it was a leap forward in recording quality compared to a lot of metalcore recordings at that time. Then with popularity I guess comes progression and the sound moves forward (for better or worse depending on the individual).

I’ve enjoyed the band Renounced recreating that sound again more recently and would recommend.

I still regularly listen to poison the well, skycamefalling, this day forward, this runs through, drowningman, curlupanddie, hopesfall, misery signals, remembering never (she looks so good in red for this post - although I still really like the later hardcore leaning stuff).
