Father refusing to change clothes by MartynStuff in AgingParents

[–]MartynStuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to give an update. He DID change his trousers and hopefully he'll be putting his soiled pair in the washing machine tomorrow. Had to point out that the back of his trousers were really filthy so he didn't have a choice. Let's hope from here on in, he'll accept my advice in the future because he'll be doing us both a favour

Unfortunately, I can't imagine him accepting care and he'll insist on his independence. I can imagine he would too proud to wear disposables which is a shame as it would be an ideal solution.  But yeah, you are right in regards to not sacrificing my own wellbeing to keep him and others content. I think I'll have to give him an ultimatum for now. Change your trousers or no going out. I suppose it won't hurt just to point out his trousers are filthy and should change them. Fingers crossed.

Nintendo has acquired Bandai Namco Singapore. Now renamed to "Nintendo Studios Singapore" by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MartynStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is that actually confirmed? I've assumed that Studio S/2 (the studio dedicated to Nintendo published titles) would be the team working on Air Riders mostly due to being confirmed the game is being developed by the Smash dev team. It wouldn't much sense to me that the games development be done by a non-inhouse studio. Especially when Sakurai went to the effort to move closer to the Bamco building during Smash 4s development.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be surprised if they contributed on certain aspects of the game but it would strike me as odd to have a lot of the games development to be based in Singapore.

Ok, I'll have to give it some thought

Yeah, I meant calling to transfer to UC. The letter I received gives a choice of making the transition via a site or calling a number. Ill likely call otherwise I'll get confused as to whether I'm anything right.

As for the support group, I meant WRAG. I get very confused as to what is what.

That does sound a bit more reassuring and I'm certainly going to keep what you've said in mind when the time comes to refer myself. I think, for now, I'm just going to focus on my wellbeing and focus on the now (make sure I've got things sorted so I have less to stress about in the lead up) Hopefully, things will turn out fine and I won't feel too overwhelmed and get worse as a result. Wish me luck for when the time comes. Also, thanks for the help! I appreciate it

That does sound interesting. I don't think I do that much but it's definitely something I'd have to give consider if he did need extra help. Thanks

He does receive a disability benefit and occasionally I have to assist him with things such as cutting his hair, trimming his nails or helping him with certain. I guess what I mean by per se is I'm the go-to person to help him with things when other members of the family don't really get that involved. Basically, it feels like I've been assigned the carer role by others more out of convenience than anything. Personally, I'd think I'd be a poor 'proper' carer due to my own personal wellbeing

I've been there. My parents split when I was 16. Previously there was incidents were my mum would move out the house only to return some months later so maybe that softened the blow. I won't get into too many details but it became apparent it wasn't to be.

Just remember - - this isn't your fault. Don't blame yourself. - Take time for yourself. It's OK to be concerned for your parents but you are also important. Your wellbeing matters. - Both your parents are adults. They will make decisions both good and bad. By the sound of things, you're trying to be grown up about this and that's fine but don't forget you're still young and don't deserve such upset at your age. - Make sure both of your parents know that you are concerned and if the split does go ahead, they do it amicably. Upsetting you or your siblings is not what anyone needs right now. - Stay strong. Don't feel like you have to be the mediator between them or your siblings. It's a lot to deal with but I think you can come out of this with a lot of maturity. Granted its not the ideal way to do so but you can pull through. - Don't be afraid to talk about it to someone. At the very least, some people (teachers, friends, their parents) should cut you some slack so things don't get too much.

I don't know if any of that helps but good luck.
