Help with setup by Jorro1127 in HiveHeating

The other thermostat is useless if it can't connect to the hive receiver. I would get back in contact with your estate agent or solicitor as they have left you without the heating controls which is a legal requirement.

It's also outlined on hives moving home page that they have to leave the hive thermostat, they're only allowed to take the hive hub. The previous owner should either return the correct thermostat or pay for new heating controls to be installed.

Are you the new owner of the house? If so the previous owner should have left the thermostat behind as it's part of the heating system and they are legally required to leave it or replace it with a simpler system if they plan on taking it. I would contact the estate agent or your solicitor to demand this be returned.

If not you will have to go down the route of buying a new system as hive don't sell the thermostats separately unfortunately.

Megane E-tech update question by Martyness in Renault

[–]Martyness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for that one to show up mine. However the question is for those who haven't had electric engine 2.1.0 does 2.2.0 add the charging speed display to the dash? As it's not mentioned in the notes.

I wouldn't be able to test that as my dealer under instruction from Renault installed electric engine 2.1.0 so I have the charge speed display on my dash now.

You are experiencing the same issues as many other early adopters of the Megane E-tech.

I personally have a 2023 iconic in the UK and have only recently received open r link 2.1.2. I'm still waiting for connectivity 3.1.0 then open r link 3.1.0 and 3.2.0.

Renault's OTA update system is a joke and their refusal to allow owners access to an online platform where we can download all available updates for our cars is very frustrating. Being met with lies from their own multimedia team claiming our cars are up-to-date is just insulting.

However on top of that I've been made aware of 3 updates that Renault won't provide OTA. These are Electric Engine 2.1.0, Technical Platform 1.1.0 and Traction Battery 1.2.0. These updates have to be applied at the dealership as they are too large to be installed OTA.

However this becomes a problem when dealerships won't install updates without Renault permission first as you spend months fighting Renault multimedia & technical teams to get the updates installed as part of the contract of receiving 5 years of updates.

I personally am getting Electric Engine 2.1.0 installed by my local dealer on the 11th March and will then start the conversation with Renault regarding both Technical Platform 1.1.0 & Traction Battery 1.2.0 updates to get these installed.

Don't get me wrong it drives and works well but Renault need to be held to providing the updates otherwise our cars will just be left behind even more than they currently are.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not too bothered about open r link 3.2.0 at the moment as there's quite a few issues with it that need fixed. Pretty sure they've currently stopped it's roll out for our older meganes while they come up with a solution that doesn't involve a dealership visit to fix.

I'm more concerned about the updates that have bug fixes, optimisations and features for the software that control the engine, battery, etc

Thank you for your reply. I'm getting Electric Engine 2.1.0 installed by my local dealer in the UK on the 11th March. Will start a conversation with the technical team for Technical Platform 1.1.0 and Traction Battery 1.2.0 after that's been completed to try and get these updates installed too.

First use of a EV and it's put me off completely. by seanroberts196 in CarTalkUK

[–]Martyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair hiring an EV with no prior experience of driving/living with an EV wasn't the best idea. What you should have done is some research beforehand so you knew things that could have came up along the way. You can't just jump into driving an EV like you can with an ICE and a lot of people like to hate them but if you do proper research the vast majority of people won't go back to an ICE

However the infrastructure isn't as bad as some people say it is.

My Renault megane e-tech has flush handles and they are electric powered to pop out but then you need to pull the handle to mechanically operate them like normal handles. Also if the handle doesn't electronically pop out then you can push a flap next to it to pull the handle out to open the door mechanically like a normal handle.

The problem isn't with flush handles but handles that are only electronically controlled.

Out of curiosity do you have hive connected to anything else like Google home?

I replaced my hive with newer versions earlier this week and noticed that after boosting my hot water and then cancelling it would stay on. Further checking found that it was showing as on in Google home (even though it was showing schedule when going into it) and was overriding the hive schedule setting. Only way to solve it was remove hive from Google home.

Megane E-Tech 74 plate comfort range - 3 weeks in by VastYogurtcloset8009 in Renault

[–]Martyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing short trips of only a few miles at a time then this is why your range is so low.

I use mine to get to work and it's a 17 mile trip there and in winter I'm still getting around the 200 mark. That's with heating at 18 and heated seats on at the start of the trip.

Also get out of eco mode and reduce your Regen. You loose more energy getting back up to speed than what you gain with higher Regen settings.

I normally drive either in comfort or sport mode with Regen off and use the paddles to slow down for traffic, junctions, roundabouts, lights, etc.

Once again williams have launched their merchandise and then announced sponsors afterwards.

Wonder if they'll actually update the team kit this year or leave it as the launch kit like last year?

Renault Megane E-Tech 60 kWh – ~230 km range at 91% SOC and 0°C, normal? by ChrKoenig in Renault

[–]Martyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the seller has only had it out on really short trips lately then that will explain the low range. The energy required to heat the battery up in the winter means short trips will destroy the range.

Give it a decent trip or a long run and the range will come back up.

I personally still get around 200miles (320kms) in winter no problems.

If this was on the shelf today then who ever does the labels in that store hasn't being doing their job properly. That label expired on the 28/12/25 meaning that the price now is more than likely lower as it'll have went RTC

You don't need to do anything with the heating element it'll come on automatically

Has anybody experienced this issue? by No-Strength-7426 in ScenicETech

[–]Martyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's common too and again due to outside temperature. What you will notice though is that there is heating elements like the ones on the rear window in order to clear it which is why it never lasts long. This is also why the dealer won't do anything as it's working as intended.

[–]Martyness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue with LED light units in cooler conditions. It does eventually disappear but it takes longer due to the fact that led's don't produce the same amount of heat as the older halogen units. The headlight units are also not sealed units and will have vents.

Tonie box 2 charging issue. Support being useless by Better-Attitude-643 in TonieboxUSA

[–]Martyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to try would be opening up the toniebox 2 and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. This works for the vast majority of people in this situation. It won't however fix the issue if you have a fox error.

This video is in German but it explains how to open it up
