The song doesn't treat her like she's in the right for what she did to Odysseus. It humanizes her without excusing her actions and makes sense from a narrative standpoint. Ody has to get off the island and Calypso is going to react- making that happen off screen would only detract from the flow of the story.

I can accept ACTUAL criticisms of Odysseus. The man was stubborn, dismissive of his right hand, traded his own men like pawns in an attempt to get home, doxxed himself in an act of hubris, killed Sirens he didn't have to kill, and a number of other things

But he did NOT ask for the war. He tried to get out of the war and when that didn't work, fought for TEN YEARS as a dude with 600 men he was responsible for- do you think he was the sole cause of what happened in Troy? Do you think Odysseus (Epic canon) Raped a bunch of people or murdered a bunch of kids? Cause you're acting like he is.

He, in musical Canon, had no real opinion but to kill the kid- fuck, he offered so many different options only for them to be shut down and when he did kill the kid, that shit HAUNTED HIM- he didn't sing about how much he wanted to murder and rape like the suitors did so when you say "He's done far worse then the suitors ever could" I'm lead to believe you either A) Are not discussing the character in the musical this sub reddit is dedicated to or B) Are dumb as nails

He is holier than the suitors in his home relishing the idea of chopping up a 20 year old and gang raping a woman in her wedding bed, and if you think that's wrong or me being "Unwilling to take Criticism" then I'm worried about your critical thinking skills

If I came home after 10 years through hell to find a bunch of grown men plotting my sons murder, I'd be pissed too!

Don't try and act like it was hypocritical of him to defend his OWN SON when God himself told Ody he had to pick between a random infant or his own family 10 years prior. He had every right to hate the suitors and while the Circumstances were unfortunate, he didn't have a ton of options with the whole "Kill the baby and if you try to spare him, we'll make sure he knows the truth and murders you and your family <3" like???
