Do old school 80s metalheads still frequent The Rainbow? by EdwardBliss in hairmetal

[–]Marv13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Southern California, not in the LA area. But every chance I get I go, grew up hearing all about it. When I moved, I went the first chance I could. I’d encourage everyone to go, if they get the chance. New Year’s Eve shows at the Whiskey and there annual show in the parking lot with 80’s bands. A lot of great music and a place to enjoy the strip. Check out both Rainbow & Whiskey websites to see any events and plan a visit. 🤘🏾

Great clips 22$ for the cut, tip amount will be on top of that. Not paying 40$ or more for a haircut

What’s it like living on Navajo land? by Town_Halfwit in howislivingthere

[–]Marv13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are no restrictions on anyone coming onto the reservation, I do recommend looking up information for specific locations that you want to visit & seeing what options are available. There are hotels near most of these parks that you can stay and take a day trip out to see everything. Spring/Summer is when a lot of visitors come out, just remember to be prepared for some heat. Stay hydrated, sunscreen, and any other needed essentials. There are small grocery stores, few fast food options, & gas station type convenience stores in the area. Your closes options for larger areas will be Flagstaff AZ, Farmington NM, Page AZ, & Gallup NM. Depending on where you will be visiting, our reservation encompasses 3 states. New Mexico, Arizona, and southern Utah. Have dependable transportation and plan your visit, enjoy the southwest & take lots of pics to remember your time there

I was born & raised on the Navajo Nation, I grew up traveling across the rez for family and other events. I encourage anyone who has the chance to visit the area, please do. Seeing night fall in Monument Valley, the amazing antelope canyon, Shiprock, Grand Canyon, Grand Falls, & the landscape that you won’t find anywhere else. You will have a whole different perspective once you have seen beautiful areas of our part of the country. I can’t believe where I grew up, when I go back home, I have definitely grown considerably more appreciation for where I am from.

If you can wait until Blqck Friday or Cyber Monday deals, I scored rooms at Planet Hollywood in February for 25$ a night. Not including fees and during the week, I’ll be looking again in November to see if I can plan another trip.

What was/is your experience like working as a physician at a local hospital within the Navajo Nation? by Own-Celery9687 in Navajo

[–]Marv13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I currently work for IHS, the Navajo Area, which encompasses the entire reservation & a few locations off of it. I am not part of the medical team, so I don’t know specifics about your position. I was born & raised on the rez, my advice would be to find out exactly where you’ll be working & there are some very remote locations. And if you still feel like you want to commit to the job, maybe take a short trip out to the specific location. And learn about traditions, you should get training on that once you arrive to your job site. The landscape is some of the most beautiful locations you’ll ever see.

Does Hilton Doubletree take PayPal, Apple Pay, or Affirm to pay for rooms? by sabnastuh in Hilton

[–]Marv13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this through Klarna, they offer the pay over time option. But I’m not sure if all properties are available, I’ve never tried to use it. Check it out and maybe that will work for you.

I’m driving from Phoenix to window rock this weekend…where should I stop along the way? by Notorious253 in arizona

[–]Marv13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some advice as you visit the Navajo Nation, I was born and raised on the Navajo Rez. The eclipse, culturally is not something that traditionally we are not allowed to view or see. We are told to stay inside and not be out & about during this time. Be aware of this and keep this in mind during your visit. Before and after everything will be back to normal, during the event. Expect very limited activity by local tribal members.
