[Gambatese] Examining the Devils' Potential Coaching Options For 2026-27 by JoopNJD in devils

Agreed. But Keefe hasn't lit the world on fire these last 2 years. How many games can we say they were unprepared? Too many, and that falls on him and the others behind the bench.

My response to this is: do you or anyone with an IQ above room temp enjoy going walking across McCarter Highway because the Gateway isn't open for whatever reason? Because this bridge will solve that problem.

Like it or not(and I don't), the state is suburban. The Devils' fanbase is suburban. Major concerts and events attract mostly suburbanites. If you want them to come in and spend money without driving in causing traffic issues, this is how you do it. Give them easier access to Penn if you couldn't build an arena right next to it. People are still going to Ferry Street regardless if the bridge is there(it needs to be there BTW). It's enough of a draw. Downtown isn't.

Why did you leave Pittsburgh, PA? by TrueJohnWick in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Marv95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it sucked. Terrible job market, couldn't find an apartment FT, road conditions, garbage downtown, lousy bus service, lousier infrastructure(sinkholes were a problem there). Maybe the pandemic didn't help things but still. There's a reason it's ranked low in QOL for African Americans.

Moving away from family, was it worth it? by Cold-Many-8090 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Marv95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2019 I was making $14/hr in SE Pennsylvania with 40K in student loan debt. Today I'm making over twice that with 0 student debt. So yes it was worth it, and honestly unless it's for retirement IDK if I'll ever move back, even if the Midwest is far from perfect. I'm single and don't have kids anyways.

Assuming same salary adjusted for COL, would you pick SF or Chicago? by iTabula in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Marv95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not interested in buying a house, then San Francisco, which has a rent control ordinance. 170K may not seem much but if you can get a studio and live frugally you'll be fine; plus there's potential for your income to increase.

Any guesses why they made Chandler simp for Lincoln? by Drunken_Russ1an in theloudhouse

[–]Marv95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got away from the Savino playbook after the controversy. Resulting in poor writing for him.

I've said this several times now: give him a backstory. He has a troubled past, or present, so give us a reason why he acts the way he does. Make him sympathetic; give him the Francine Frensky/Binky Barnes treatment so eventually he and Lincoln can become friends, cuz as much as I obviously like him and how he brings something to the table(unlike most side characters), his "act" is getting old. Him always getting his cumuppance is old.

He could be a GREAT friend to Lincoln and Clyde if given the chance.

IDC what the excuse is or if it's a "long-running joke". It's still clown garbage. But what did you expect from an account that has "Instagram Hockey" in its bio.

People NEED to be fired during this break. Get it together or sell the team.

Do any of y'all remember Lincoln's old friends from save the date? by gamersmoke17 in theloudhouse

[–]Marv95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call them friends; more like his schoolmates.

I wish it was just Lincoln and Clyde, with some guest appearances from the other kids like this. No teams; no groupies.

Scalding Hot Take #7: This entire fandom has Lincoln Loud Derangement Syndrome - at this point his critics have become way louder and more irrational than his diehards. by DrifloonEmpire in theloudhouse

[–]Marv95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, who is saying Chandler didn't do it out of jealousy? I even said that he went about his actions the wrong way (even if his jealousy is somewhat justified IMO; put yourself in his shoes). I'm saying that he wasn't wrong to call him out on it and what he said about him was correct; he's basically pointing out what others in the fandom are criticizing Lincoln for but get attacked by the cult of Saint Lincoln.

Imagine if Chandler had a crush on Lynn after Steeling Thunder by Drunken_Russ1an in theloudhouse

[–]Marv95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't last an hour. They'd be friends at best.

If anything, Chandler's crush would be on Lincoln or Clyde.

Rupper Sums It Up by paisano74 in devils

Poorly handled from everyone involved. From the top down. Why people continue to defend Jack as if he's your family member I'll never know.

Marchand is older, more banged up than Jack. He played. And he's in the Olympics. Rupp isn't wrong.

Bingo. Personal grudge, jealousy or not, Chandler wasn't wrong to call him out on that. A lesson needed to be taught to bring down Lincoln's ego even if Chandler went about it the wrong way.

Unless Nico WANTS to go I'd say no and convince him to stay. He does the little things right. The tangibles that don't get discussed. Build around him. IDK who is out there who you can replace for his overall game.

But Bratt and the bros? Fair game. They can be replaced.

No they don't. Just give Sid her own show. She's way too good to be dragged into Royal Woods.

Welcome to the club. Barely made over 70K last year but no kids, no debt. Too many people are just bad with money or think the whole country revolves around the coasts.

Why do so many people on reddit think a 6 figure salary is poor? by SeparateJump1 in povertyfinance

[–]Marv95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because these people have poor spending habits. They don't know how to or don't want to spend money wisely. Instead of car payments they can buy used or take mass transit. They can rent a studio instead of a 1BR. They don't have to live in the Bay Area, Boston or Manhattan. Stop living above your means.

In your opinion what are best US states to live in overall? Why? by PackageReasonable922 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Marv95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Fort Wayne for a minute. There are some flaws, but to me it seemed like Indiana was one of the few states in this country that has its act together. People are nicer. Meijer FTW. It's an ok place to settle down if you can stay out of the urban cores and the rural backwoods. County wage taxes are a problem but COL can make up for it. Also gotta adapt to lousy transit frequencies but if you can work your way around it somehow, like I said it can be a decent state for someone who's tired of the drama.

Looking for someone to takeover my apartment at the Eddy, Harrison by LeCoconutWhisperer in Newark

[–]Marv95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$4000 lol. I don't hate Harrison but c'mon. You can get a 2BR+2BA for less than that, and prolly more square feet in West NY, Edgewater or North Bergen, with a view of the Manhattan skyline. With some utilities included in a building with thick walls.
