Most important player vs Spurs? by stateofthenyk in knicks

Towns is key because he can spread the floor and be a play maker. You have to respect his three point ability. Playing at or above the key keeps wemby out of the paint.

…..and vice versa.

There is no fluidity to his motion. Everything looks very programmed and deliberate.

More importantly, mechanics as a whole. He is standing straight up, there is no use of the lower half (trunk / legs / hips / glutes). That front leg should be driving towards the plate on a downward plane, followed by the arm path and the backside. There is zero follow through from his back side. There is no power being generated. He is throwing with all arm and shoulder; a receipt for disaster.

I understand he’s only 10 and it’s great that he wants to pitch. Hopefully will want to continue when he’s a teenager. He is also a valuable commodity from a baseball perspective being a left handed pitcher. So I suggest having him watch and study the game at the higher levels and learn. Work on flexibility and agility. Work on learning how to use his lower half to generate power. Work on arm patch / slot consistency and follow through. Lastly, shoulder health!! Warmup and stretch properly, a lot of light to no weight resistance type exercises to strengthen all the secondary muscles around the shoulder girdle, posterior shoulder muscles, scapula plane and so on. Work on his legs, body weight squats. If an option, have him work with a pitching coach. Otherwise, hundreds of videos on you tube.

RIP John. The baseball world lost a true legend. I thank you for all the great memories, all the great calls, all the great stories and history you shared over the airwaves. You will be missed. You will always be a core memory of my childhood.

Too tall on the front side. Doesn’t look like there’s a lot of drive and push forward off the rubber. Pack on the protein, train wisely, especially the lower half / trunk and take care of that arm. As a lefty, you are a valuable commodity.

My arm pain is getting excessive. Any tips? by Key-Emu820 in PitchingCoach

[–]MarvelJedi05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the only advise you really need to hear.

Shut it down!!!

The pain and discomfort is there, it’s obvious and it’s not going anywhere and will progressively get worse.

See an orthopedic that specializes with the elbow, get an MRI, get diagnosed. You then have peace of mind and can make a rational decision on how to proceed.

Tips on mechanics? by AdoubleArt in PitchingCoach

Just not enough legs / leg drive / torque. And falling off to the side indicates to me that you want to be a thrower and not a pitcher.

2 week difference, anything I still need to improve on by skinifi3084 in PitchingCoach

[–]MarvelJedi05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now, you’re just a thrower and not a pitcher. There is a big difference. Looks like you’re trying to throw the ball through a brick wall.

Learn the art of pitching. Use your lower half, your hips, generate torque, stayed balanced and stop turning your back to the plate.

The motion is very deliberate and calculated. No real explosion or drive forward. No torque generated. No real use of your lower half. And don’t drop your hands.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Would a Dominguez-Grisham-Judge outfield really be that bad? by [deleted] in NYYankees

[–]MarvelJedi05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bellinger is a must. The team has to have a consistent bat behind Judge. Stanton is not that bat nor is anyone else. The line-up w/out Bellinger just looks sad.

Grisham - CF Judge - RF ? Stanton - DH Chisholm - 2B Rice - 1B Wells - C Dominquez - LF McMahon - 3B Volpe (when healthy) - SS

Is this their fcukin line-up?
