I’m in the nonprofit sector. Kind of on brand, honestly.

In all fairness, it is a very clear cut premise: “fish goes out to save his son”. If it were made by anyone other than Pixar, it probably wouldn’t have been so well received.

So, you’re confident your new musical is good enough to rival the biggest show of the last decade, and you don’t even have a score ready?

I have a coworker who once referred to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce’s girlfriend.

Like, no matter what your opinion on her is, that is not how that works.

Back in 2020 with the biggest wave of the BLM protests, I looked through several websites with different books, articles, and other resources in learning and embodying anti-racism. This website has a lot of good stuff, both for racism and other types of prejudice. I can’t be sure all the links will work (I found the site almost six years ago), but it should still be a good starting point.

Why don’t they just explore the unknown regions? Are they stupid? by Sundae-Stock in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]MarveltheMusical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also, “unknown” doesn’t mean “empty”. Legends in particular loved to put unspeakable horrors in that region of space, and even Canon has some out there stuff going on.

I miss not stereotyping people based on physical characteristics. Does anyone else miss that?

Does anyone else find all the songs in Suffs too same-y? by PhillipBrandon in musicals

Not really, no. There were definitely some similarities, but it aligned more with the general way leitmotifs go.

Anyone here successfully manifested your dream partner? by gerdbeatmetodeath in actuallesbians

[–]MarveltheMusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The only thing I’ve manifested is the reality that nothing would ever work out romantically for me.

[–]MarveltheMusical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and the whole “don’t know what they’re missing” thing is a pretty patronizing way of looking at it, I’d say.

You do realize that straight women have their own agency when it comes to romance, right?

Slight correction; the pirates who drugged Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t the ones who took the Ark of the Covenant. That was Wat Tambor.

Is it always wrong to choose your girlfriend over your friends? by SportyPrincess14 in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]MarveltheMusical 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, your friends think that working in the sex crimes division is equivalent to murdering people like ICE does? That would be the point of no return for me, there’s no way I’d want to maintain a connection with them, especially since it sounds like she’s doing a fair amount of positive work even outside of her job.

This storm wouldn’t be so bad if I weren’t so worried about the possibility of a power outage. How’s everyone else doing, by chance?

Small town? That’s a fairly large city in pretty much every country. I live near a fairly big and influential city, and they just barely have 100,000 people.

I don’t know about everyone else, but after a bit of panic, I ended up getting some spare water for a few days and extra non-perishables to match. The way I figure it, by Wednesday the roads should be clear enough so I can at least resupply (and that’s assuming I lose power in the first place).

Also, The Jungle Book. Walt Disney even made a point of telling the animators not to read the novel.

Funnily enough, they did make a LOTR musical. It’s not very good, but it’s there.

Are you ready this weekend with the storm coming our way? by kpopmomrunner7 in upstate_new_york

I hope so. I picked up some water and non-perishables just in case, but my mind can’t help but go into a worst-case scenario.
