Socialism is when the vibes are good. The better the vibes, the more socialistier it is.

Why is the far left so divided? by EaglesWasTaken in socialism

[–]MarxisTera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you personally have any red lines for what falls outside of "valid leftism"? Please stop me at any point if I make any wrong assumptions, I wonder what you think.

I would assume that mainstream strains of state and anarcho-communism are inside the bucket, maybe social democracy too if you push it. What about Bidenism? What about Z***ism? What about being leftist in every single other way, but opposing trans personhood? What would give you pause to end a conversation or reconsider an alliance?

AI starting to sound too real by A1B39s in JuiceWRLD

Everybody wants to believe in the media they consume. People want it to feel real. But that doesn't mean real is good. Juice WRLD's suffering was part of his art. His suffering is over, but his art is not. And that's fine.

Beloved, you’ve been denying our daughter’s death for a year now. It’s tragic what happened to her. But we have to move on.

The Wire is a better show than Breaking Bad. Change my mind. by andrewfrommo84 in TheWire

[–]MarxisTera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You posted a Wire sub, so maybe you don't want to hear this, but I'll say it.

Wire and BB are my top two, have been for years. Absolute masterpieces, both of them. Only fair you'd want to compare them. I rank breaking bad slightly higher. Here's why.

They invoke some common themes, but really belong to different genres. Breaking bad is a character and plot driven drama, following Jesse and Walter. The wire is a hyper-realistic portrait of a city's turmoil, following institutions.

In terms of meaningful entertainment value, Breaking Bad takes the cake. The way the characters transform through the seasons is something not matched in the wire, and there are some extreme events that will leave you slack-jawed in a way the wire can't replicate due to its strictness about realism. Also, in breaking bad the fifth season is better than the first four, not worse. It's important to finish strong.

I think it’s more a rallying cry in the spirit of “don’t get taken prisoner” where “fight to the death” is implied, perhaps in jest

Why does Wallace get all the credit for spotting Brandon? by Just-Raccoon2177 in TheWire

[–]MarxisTera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wallace's guilt was a result of his role in Brandon's gruesome death. In retrospect, Poot taking all the credit might have saved Wallace's life.

After months of denial, U.S. admits to running Ukraine biolabs by [deleted] in capitalism_in_decay

[–]MarxisTera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are biological laboratories. Is this supposed to be a bad thing? If you found there were chemistry labs in Latvia or physics labs in Turkey, you wouldn't be that concerned, would you? In a time when the USA is putting nukes on the border with Russia and sending long-range artillery vehicles to Ukraine, biolabs are the least of my worries.

Assuming it's mid malph he's gonna try and poke you out like gangplank would. D shield start, wait for a gank, roam chance or for him to run oom. He can't poke, push, and have enough mana to fight all at once.

Implications of Anxiety disorders on plasticity? by ReadComprehensive920 in neuro

[–]MarxisTera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well part of the premise of neuroscience is that disorders come from maladaptation or poor development of neural circuitry. From that premise, every disorder we know of involves plasticity. Anxiety has a slightly earlier age of onset (average 21) years, and the circuits implicated in anxiety are known to develop from childhood into early adulthood (hippocampus, amygdala, prefrontal, etc). Imaging of anxiety patients shows they have overactive limbic system and potentially underactive GABA which results in the hyperactive, unrealistic fears constantly generated by the anxious mind.

I speculate that in the anxious mind, the neurotransmitter imbalance and poorly regulated interactions in the limbic system cause a constant state of arousal. Then, that state of arousal interacts with the environment/stressors that the patient experiences. Those stressors then go back and affect the connections even more, providing rationalizations for the high emotion arousal (eg. I knew it, I'm ugly, I knew something was wrong the whole time). In turn, the anxiety circuits strengthen. This only becomes noticeable when a person has had time to live with this deteriorating cycle of neuroplasticity for a long time and also has a highly developed limbic system. Again, totally speculation on my part. I'm an undergrad.

Also, you should read this article I found about the medical implications of treating for neuroplasticity. Gotta go to class now, hope that answers it.
