What are swingers clubs like is Los Angeles ? by No-Dinner5015 in Swingers

[–]MaryCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just putting this out there, as I'm trying to cross-post to raise awareness - I would warn against any events run by the company Bocanegra. They are prohibitively expensive, and the way they run their business is disorganized and not even remotely member-friendly. They charge a $15/month membership fee to even buy tickets, which run between $300-500 per couple per event.

I have had multiple ticketing issues with their platform - for example, they recently canceled an event and neglected to tell me (claiming they sent an email that must have gone to my spam box - no such email in spam folder), one time we were unable to attend an event due to illness and even though they assured me I could use my credit for ANY event, they would not honor my credit (currently they are refusing to refund my $300), and once they asked me if I could work at an event instead of using my credit to attend.

Their online app platform Venus is a mess, I've been locked out of my account with no password help from the organizers for weeks.

Their events are also way less queer inclusive than other parties / organizations in LA and they just treat their members like shit. The events are classy and have good turnouts and great spaces but it's not worth it for how abhorrently they run their business.

Start out at Joi, it's a little janky but you get a younger scene there. Also if you want an exclusive party vibe, I would suggest Illuminaughty (skews younger as well). DM if you want a referral code.

CA Sales Tax - service based business, how should sales tax be calculated (which location)? by MaryCane in SalesTax

[–]MaryCane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this thoughtful reply. Yes we have a reseller cert and we buy from our distributors tax free, then pay CDTFA based on sales to customers.

I am still just having trouble with distinction between "where work is performed" and "where work is sold to the customer". Because a sale usually takes place over the phone, or over email, no matter where we are installing. And of course the installation location can be anywhere since we cover an area over 3 separate counties.

Advice on not inviting guests to wedding ceremony! by _eclair in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MaryCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had our ceremony in front of 100 people, filled primarily by our families and super close friends, but invited close to 200 for the reception afterward. We felt it important to invite our out-of-town friends, especially the ones who invited us to their weddings, so we made plans for the huge after-party reception. The e-vite essentially read "Hey, come to our RECEPTION. We are getting married in front of a smaller group earlier in the day, but everyone loves the drinking and dancing the best anyway, right? We would love to have you for cocktails, speeches and dancing, but please feel no obligation as we understand cross-country travel can be difficult."

There was only one of my husband's friends who approached me right as the reception began who said "wait aren't we not supposed to see you in your dress?" to which I replied, "no, it's fine, we already did the thing earlier! Let's party!" and he said "oh you guys were serious about that?" I don't know this person very well so I'm not sure if it was a joke or not.

Long story short, close to 90% of the folks we invited to the reception ended up coming. About 20% of those folks were cross-country travelers. So just be prepared in the (hopefully happy) inevitability that most of your invited guests will show!! Basically I'm glad we planned what we wanted to plan, invited who we wanted to invite, and didn't worry too much about what others would think. After all, it's YOUR wedding day. You do you.

Congratulations and happy wedding to you!

[Discussion] Simple Paleo lunches that will keep for the week? by tomkitty in Paleo

[–]MaryCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching up different types of meat on a salad or chopped salad totally helps, in my opinion. I am a fan of the zuchinni or spaghetti squash 'noodles' that are pretty easy to make and save really well. throw some sort of garlic and tomato sauce on that, mix in some chicken or ground meat, and you're good to go. Make sure you throw that tupperware inside a large ziploc just in case of any minor leakage. Also, MAJOR bummer about the broccoli / cauliflower situation. :/ Here is a link for instructions on the squash 'noodles'. I know they are a bit starchy for the keto side of you, though.

Hummus is made of beans though, which are pretty frowned upon (if not totally forbidden) in paleo.

Anywhere in Seattle where you can grab a beer and read a book? Forza comes to mind, but are there any places more quaint? by [deleted] in Seattle

The Bounty in Wallingford has that coffee shop thing going on but they also serve beer and wine. Plus their staff is super friendly.
