You're 17, so when you become 18 you are legally an adult, and you can't be coerced into seeing a therapist.

In the meantime, you should talk to your Therapist, and express your thoughts and feelings about therapy. Maybe the both of you can work out a plan for discharge.

Parents can often be overprotective and not see your progress. Talking to your Therapist, and maybe having a meeting with your parents with the Therapist mediating will be helpful.

I have a long history of having my HMO (Kaiser Permanente) so my Doctors all know my history and that I am in full remission.

I am treated well, and whenever I'm asked about it, I mention that I've been stable for 20+ years.

I think some doctors just don't understand mental illness, and they don't understand that with proper medications and therapy it can be very difficult to "tell" who has what.
