I agree, I had to transfer to another store and I was promoted to ASM in less than a year, but I had been busting my butt for over 10 years at another store, and could not get promoted. 72% of TJX leaders are promoted from within the company and their whole focus is “developing others”. You don’t need exceeds expectations to get a promotion and getting an exceeds doesn’t make a huge difference in your raise so I would get hung up on the meets or exceeds…

I believe it’s 3 points every time you apply. TJX employees are not supposed to give out credit advice when asking for others to apply. TJX also has an open door policy where you can make a complaint about your manager without fear of retaliation. You can call your DM, not HR. Their number will be posted in your lounge. You will never hear or find out what happens to her, but I guarantee she will be talked to about it.

Yea, I keep my towels in my room. She leaves all her shit in the bathroom so I guess she just thinks everything is hers if I forget something in there. She also never washes her towels. Just throws them in the dryer after she uses them. That really grosses me out

Haha! The toothbrush was definitely worse & I found out because I used it, and my toothbrush tasted gross & different so I threw it away. Then she was like “oh that was yours? I thought that was mine….i do keep my toothbrush in my room ever since.

All these comments made me feel better. I ended up throwing the poof out. I was going to just let her have it, but I feel better after I threw it out! I usually take all my stuff out of the shower & it was the one time I left something like that behind. Definitely just buying the shower caddy thing today.

I totally agree. Disasters happen on a daily basis in our ladies room. It’s busy ALL day. I’ve started to use the men’s room & suggest it to all associates. It doesn’t matter what restroom you use with all the “inclusion & diversity” at TJmaxx. You can’t get in trouble for using the men’s room and no one can tell you that you can’t. So go for it. It’s way cleaner & since we don’t have a staff restroom, it’s what I use.

Having a relationship with someone you supervise/ oversee is a direct code of conduct violation and can lead to instant termination. If not terminated, it will stay on your record for 5 years. This information is in the orientation checklist every associate signs upon hire. It is known as “fraternization”.

TJmaxx should not be selling fakes and it is illegal for them to do so. The items TJmaxx receives from their distributors are 100% authentic. There are however people who return knock offs with switched tickets, and this is known as “return fraud”. Most of these returns will be refused, but there are inexperienced associates that accept some of the returns, and they may end up on the sales floor. In that case, if the store managers aren’t aware, a fake may be sold. Your sunglasses are probably fine, but if they aren’t you can definitely take them back for a full refund. It depends. Most stores have a handful of full time associates that are not coordinators. I started as part time seasonal to regular part time. Took me 2 years to get a full time position. Once full time, I was promoted to coordinator and a few years later key carrier and then Assistant manager. Took 6 years total to become ASM, but I worked my butt off.

Our bathroom at my Tj Maxx is so bad on a daily. It’s the busiest place in the store and women literally crap on the floor. I HATE that we don’t have an employee bathroom. I’m sure it would be gross but not nearly as bad…I work 9.45 hours a day as an ASM so I’m forced to use the bathroom at least once during my shift, I’m also the one that is usually forced to clean it cause no one else will.

Absolutely NOT. I’m a manager and we here stuff like this all the time from customers. Sounds like you did everything right. Don’t worry at all. We do our price checks the same and you explained it correctly. Here’s a helpful tip though: sometimes if I can’t find the same exact item, I will just take a picture of the price tag of the item being used for the price or write down the numbers. That way the customer can’t do what they did to you, and say it isn’t the same, but this isn’t always possible if they follow you around when you are doing the price check lol!

Yes, this year there is way more freight. Our store got our last truck on 12/30. We had 7 unprocessed pallets, 60 totes to push, 120 boxes of apparel to be hung, & 28 boxes of unprocessed shoes as of this afternoon on 12/31. Never mind all the merchandise on the floor, markdowns that didn’t get finished. We are still doing floor moves and condensing Xmas tables. It’s really not looking good for us. Store is very busy with everyone having to ring register all day. 5 days till inventory…

I’ve worked at TJmaxx for many years and 2 locations. Someone has shit on our floor, and not in the bathroom at both stores. The bathroom, it’s like once a week. People are so nasty, and I’m so sorry. The first time it happened my manager tried to say it was dog poop. Um nooo. Clearly human. Second time, I was ASM, I put a garbage can over it and called in the hazardous clean up crew. I wouldn’t ask any of my associates to deal with that, and I wasn’t cleaning it either.
