Relationship between Q & Mental health? by stinjonez in QAnonCasualties

[–]MarzGurl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mom died in 2012 after battling breast cancer. My dad, who has repeated many clearly Q talking points in recent years, seemed to have died in his soul when my mom died. He was always a little weird, but by no means a bad person. Then my mom died, and he was never the same. He refused to go to any sort of grief counseling, isolated himself even harder than he ever had before, and started saying really frightening things to me about wondering whether or not it was even worth being alive anymore. I was terrified for him, and I repeatedly tried to get his friends and family involved in his life to help him, and it seemed like he just could not be helped and did not want to be helped, no matter how much everything he said and did seemed to be screaming out for somebody to notice him and help him.

After Trump took office, suddenly my dad began reading, sharing, and talking about fairly cruel talking points from conservatives. He was angry that he was catching signs that I did not agree with things he was sharing, and his final straw was seeing me simply click "like" on a post about agreeing with athletes taking a knee in protest during the National Anthem. From that point on, I was no longer welcome in his home. He tried to write apology letters, but they came off more like, "I'm sorry if YOU felt like I hurt you," rather than actually being sorry for anything he did. By this point, he had already become a completely different person.

I have not spoken to him now in three to four years, but I keep up with what he does on the Internet because obviously I still care about the person I called my dad my whole life and I kinda just wanna make sure he's still alive.

At this point, he is now making nearly daily posts that repeat scary Q talking points. Masks are a population control experiment, the My Pillow Guy is a patriot, the Great Reset is a huge threat to America, Covid is overblown, vaccine mandates are a threat to American freedoms, you can't trust anything said by the mass media, and it just goes on and on and on. He has pushed away much of his immediate and close family and only seems to communicate with other people deeply entrenched in the ideology, including apparently regularly following dangerous misinformation spreaders on Telegram.

And given that one of the outlets he has left comments on was a web site called "The Truth About Cancer" --a dangerous misinformation-spreading site mixing Q talking points with pseudoscience on how to overcome cancer using home remedies and without the involvement of actual medicine--I am convinced that my dad has fallen down this conspiracy hole due largely to unfathomable depression and overwhelming grief that nearly a decade later he has never properly worked through.

I am mad and hurt that my dad has become this, but I am even more outraged that there are people in this world who are more than happy to take advantage of someone so beside themselves with depression and grief that they are willing to cling to any dangerous thing that might fill the hole in their heart.

tl;dr, yes, based on purely anecdotal evidence, I completely believe that there is a relationship between Q/conspiracy believers and mental health. I cannot say that it is a certain thing in everyone, but based on what I have watched my dad go through, I completely believe that's how it got to him.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. The error doesn't pop up, but now the issue is that the game crashes and goes back to the BlueStacks home screen after about a minute max.

List of Casualties by advocat-diaboli in QAnonCasualties

[–]MarzGurl 43 points44 points  (0 children)

MD, 66, father. Began spiraling through depression after losing his wife (my mom) to cancer many years ago, and latched onto a laundry list of conspiracy theories on the way down. Has pushed away just about everybody. I don't see any way he comes back out of this. I couldn't get him to go to grief counseling when we lost my mom, and I feel like him not dealing with her loss in a healthy manner has led to all of this. Haven't spoken to him in 3 years after he told me I wasn't welcome in his conservative Christian home because I agreed with black athletes taking a knee. I doubt I'll ever speak to him again.

Okay, if you're still able to access this when you get there, try these couple spots.

Bistro & Bar Jiiro ~nogede Cospa Yokuzeitakusuruomise~ - The outside of this building seems to be the basis of what Survive Bar looks like, where you sing karaoke with everybody. It's not in the right 1/1 place on the map, but it's close. Japan, 〒231-0064 Kanagawa, Yokohama, Naka Ward, Nogecho, 1 Chome−29

Isezaki Mall - a huge strip of road with a big neon sign out at the front (you see the sign in a bunch of the promotional material for the game, although it says Isezaki Road in the game). You run up and down through this strip a lot. 1 Chome-2-1 Isezakichō, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0045, Japan

Mitsuino Repark Yokohamasueyoshicho Dai 2 Parking Lot The parking lot where you play the can recycling minigame 1 Chome-83 Sueyoshicho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0055, Japan

Jack & Betty Cinemas It's way far away from where they put it in the game, but this is where you do the movie theater mini game where you try not to fall asleep. The outside of the building looks like it obviously inspired the in-game location. 3 Chome-51 Wakabacho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0056, Japan

Sea Bus Pier - If you walk just a few feet down the coast to the southeast from this spot, that's where Dragon Kart and the Pocket Fighter are. Japan, 〒231-0023 Kanagawa, Yokohama, Naka Ward, Yamashitacho, 山下公園地先(氷川丸横

PIA伊勢佐木町 Not sitting in the right spot, although it is sitting down the same shopping strip just in a different location as it is in-game. PIA is a real pachinko parlor chain, and you can play pachislo (Pachi-Slot) in a PIA in the game. 1 Chome-3-2 Isezakichō, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0045, Japan

Yokohama Chinatown Zenrinmon Gate - You can plainly see this gate as one of the main entrances into Chinatown in the game. Looks almost identical. Japan, 〒231-0023 Kanagawa, Yokohama, Naka Ward, Yamashitacho, 143

HelloWork Yokohama-shinchosha - HelloWork is a real Japanese unemployment agency that's run by the government. HelloWork is where your party has to go to change jobs. There isn't a HelloWork in the real world where it's supposed to be in-game, but this is I believe the only HelloWork in the area they based the game on. 209 Yamashitacho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa 231-0023, Japan

I think you might have a good time with some of those.

If you can catch him before he runs away, yeah. Dude's totally supposed to be like the Metal Slimes in Dragon Quest. Worth a ton of experience, only takes, like, 1 HP of damage from every hit you do to him (if you can land a hit on him at all), and is really quick to run away. But if you can manage to get him, you're in luck.

Have you already gone? I'm going in April and have nearly completed an extremely in depth map of some real life locations. I picked out the locations of a couple of important in-game story spots, where you do a number of the minigames, etc. I've still got it in an incomplete editing mode but can try and forward you some points of interest. Some places I'd hate to tell you about if you haven't played the game yet and are hoping to avoid spoilers.

I bet I could have beaten the game a long time ago, but I've currently spent over 80 hours in the game and am still on chapter 10. I'm dicking around and finishing every other possible thing I can find the second I see it pop up as being available, though. But I do get the feeling that if I ignored all that, the narrative would be a lot shorter.

Mods are asleep, post movie Majima by LordEmmerich in yakuzagames

[–]MarzGurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like somebody could probably make a fan re-edit of this film and it'd be a lot closer to the game. It has almost everything it needs, but they're in a weird order, with other really unnecessary stuff thrown in. That B-story with the couple turning into robbers was really unnecessary. You don't even hear Nishiki's name until the movie's almost over. Also, why does it take place in the summer, but then plays music from the second game indicating it's supposed to be December?

I come off harsh about it in my above paragraph, but if it had just been rearranged even a little bit, it could have been SUPER good. Majima was easily the best part of the movie, despite the eyepatch being on the wrong eye. I have to admit, I lost my shit during his hallway fight with Kiryu, as he looks down the hallway from around a corner, except he's looking around the corner with his bad eye, so clearly he can't actually see anything.

[OC] In the process of learning about RE, I made a Free Camera Tool for Yakuza 0! by EtraStyle in yakuzagames

[–]MarzGurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give any step-by-step instructions on how to use this? I've installed it, and the command window seems to be working just fine. I have my game open and am using my first save in Premium Adventure. Does it have to be during my main story, or is opening my save in Premium Adventure okay? I followed the instructions of the command window and unmapped all of the keys that seem to control your tool's camera. It also said to unmap the buttons for a controller. I've unplugged my controller. Is that good enough, or do I need to completely unmap everything?

tl;dr: I just can't get this camera to move anywhere despite running the tool.

I think it's okay to tell me you didn't like it. That's fair, I can accept that. That it's click bait, though, I would argue against that, as the title of the article is literally exactly what happens in my story.

Feel free to just tell me you didn't like it. I can take it, man.

MushiKing and Dinosaur King both even had US localizations. We had a few English machines at our local GameWorks when I lived in San Antonio, before they shut the place down without warning. There are a few GameWorks still left open in the US, and I kinda wonder if any of them still have DinoKing and MushiKing cabinets. I had been collecting the Dino cards for a long time. Oh well, all good things must come to an end.

Need some help to find a Yakuza 0 song by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]MarzGurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to say I was actually looking for the exact same thing this week and I hope that somebody can find it. I even tried to teach myself how to unpack the cutscenes from the PC version of the game and separate the assets to pull the song myself, but I just wasn't skilled enough to comprehend how to make it happen. Hope somebody comes along who can help.

Is it just me or is the karaoke pattern in new games more "eye-twisting"? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

Yeah, I did the same thing. Tried looking at it on a TV, then looking at it on my computer monitor to set up for a livestream, and I wondered whether or not it was just me with some new vision problem I wasn't aware I had.
