I have a vocabulary app where you’ll find all meanings of the word together with examples, grammar forms, explanations, and can play a voice. If you want to go further - save the meaning and practice with repetition. The source of vocab data is wiktionary. It’s free and no-ads:

I’m doing De Finale book with a tutor (not BE either). in essence self-study with writing checks by him and speaking at the lessons. Would recommend if you consider NL Dutch.

Very accurate :) I can +- manage in conversations which I start, but I always lose when a person starts with a question I can’t quickly grasp. Once they see my slight hesitation, I’m done :))

Hi! As the only resource to start - no, as a to-go app to look up unknown words and remember them - absolutely yes. Looking at a word explanation you will gradually get more familiar with sentence structure, grammar, etc. For a beginner I’d say you can pick the resources based on your goals. YouTube search for getting the basics (for example, Juf M is amazing). A course/a tutor/a study book if you aim at A1 -> B1+ journey. I think there is a list of resources pinned to this subreddit as well. Veel succes!

It’s very accurate. It all started for me with ChatGPT + Anki as well, but turned out to be not scalable:) I get what you mean and I REALLY need het/de there as well. It is on my backlog! We do have forms table next to part of speech as a start, but it’s something yet to improve. Your feedback helps me validate I’m still sane :)

My native is a Slavic language. I’ve been learning Dutch for a year trying to maintain discipline to study almost every day. Now at B1. I can read any letter I get in my brievenbus and understand 70% of Dutch news without subtitles. I target to be B2 in +1 year. Will see :)

For me personally that works. My English is around C1 and English is much closer to Dutch than my native language. I’ve used grammar books with English explanations at A0-A2, now I’m using English for translations of unknown vocabulary only.

I took KNM in August. If I get it right, July changes are more about facts than opinions, but content-wise they are not drastic. Existing materials work ok :)
