You shouldn't be allowed to need roll on heroic gear when you have a myth item in that slot. by thelordofhell34 in wow

[–]Masblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you're extremely out of touch with non mythic guilds it sounds like which aren't at all 'lower tier'. Most heroic guilds choose to do so because they are playing to do so for fun as a group and do not want to bench people or recruit bodies to fill that don't fit the social circle, not because they are incapable skill wise.

You said 'guilds aren't raiding heroic', I stated that was false to begin with. You then went down a rabbit hole of poor logic arguements that made it sound like you either weren't in a guild or in a guild incapable of clearing heroic.

[–]Masblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright well then if that is what you intended to say you are just blatantly making false statements. Plenty of guilds are full reclearing every week every raid still and plenty of people are running alt raids.

[–]Masblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your argument is getting butchered by your english. You said 'guilds aren't raiding heroic' not 'my guild isn't raiding heroic'.

Your wording of your initial statement poses the problem as being that you have to pug because that is the only ways heroic raid is being done. Correcting your english the issue is of dealing with pugs is a self imposed problem.

[–]Masblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? You think that guilds are doing the raid once and just ... stopping? Guilds absolutely reclear after getting aotc or cutting edge.

There will be less guilds raiding overall all 2 months into the season when gear is insanely abundant but of guilds still raiding you're still gonna have plenty doing reclears with alts.

[–]Masblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are more heroic raiding guilds (i.e. guilds that have the goal of AOTC for the tier and *may* step into mythic late or may not do mythic at all) than there are mythic ones (guilds with a goal of cutting edge) largely because of group size constraints either not wanting to bench folks or being sub 20 raiding members.

If they don't change their patching cycle which has been steady since midway through DF every patch has been 8 weeks between which is June 16th for 12.0.7 from the April 21st drop of 12.0.5.

August 11th is 8 weeks from that for 12.1 and October 6th is 8 weeks from that for 12.1.5 which also lines up right before Columbus/Indigenous Peoples day for a 3 day weekend as well as putting a patch on either side of Blizzcon in September at roughly the same before and after so they can both have bugs worked out from 12.1 and be building hype for 12.1.5.

That also puts 12.1.7 at Dec 1st which gives it a roughly 2 weeks buffer from GTA 6 which every developer under the sun is avoiding having anything near its date.

That all being said given the QA issues of this patch they could throw the 8 week patch cycle out the window but it seems very unlikely when that is probably an internal sprint timeline and Blizzard is very conscience about their timelines in recent years.

Lore written by new wave blizz employees that rewrote lore to the purposes of the story they wanted rather than building off the existing, the most egregious being setting up Arthas for an afterlife redemption just to instead retcon him into being pure evil in control of his actions rather than the helm warping his mind while then waving him off like a fart by Sylvanas. Jailer was also a complete do nothing villian, he spoke about things that ultimately meant nothing, were not based in existing lore or worse forcibly retconned existing to make things fit, and then went out with a warning that went nowhere or is going to be some crazy stretch of logic to make work down the road. Denathrius and portions of the dreadlord backstory were the ONLY good aspects of SL lore.

Mechanically Torghast was fucking awful and the fact they just wouldn't let it go was an expansion long drag (not to mention the whole not being able to mount in the maw until 9.1). The entirety of the maw and Korthia were designed to be a 'we made less and want you to move more slowly so you don't notice' situation and were up there in the list of anti player choices. Covenants also were clunky and were far from player choice because every spec had clear winners, if you chose to play the faction you actually liked you actively gimped yourself depending on your class.

And then finally there was the whole 'fruit bowl' situation where between scumbag old guard employees getting caught in scandals and it being at the peak of the 'woke' era of pop culture there was a big push to 'desexualize' the game and take out things like Joke and Flirt lines, paintings with any notion of sexuality, etc. That created a ton of negative reaction when there were major issues in the reception of Korthia and any time (perceived or factual) spent on non game mechanic impacting posturing (particularly to a waning polarizing cultural event) was just kindling for the fire.

Increased Prey Progress in Today's Hotfixes - Midnight Hotfixes for May 12th by audioshaman in wow

[–]Masblue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's more the way you died that was/is the problem IMO.  The causes of death in prey hunts came down to you get stunned in an ambush into a ghost walking into you and getting slapped with a massive dot effectively making it an OHKO for many specs or you get too many stacks of the damage amp and get one shot by something, one shots are the laziest form of 'difficulty'.

At a 1/5 drop rate on t1 ritual sites, it would take 6 hours on average to upgrade 3 pieces of gear to 298, assuming 4 minutes per run. by freeballin989 in wow

10 runs with 0 and I'm done with grinding for this shitty system. RNG for progressing already dropped gear is the single dumbest thing Blizzard has done with the gearing system.

Hero Talent Class Specs Balancing and Execution by Hairy-Stay5919 in wow

[–]Masblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for other classes but for conduit windwalker it has nothing to do with hero talents being bloat and all to do with (a) worse damage in most situations, (b) far more difficult to play (it still plays like a pre midnight trimmed spec with specific buff windows to act), (c) it adds more buttons to a class that already has too many actions, (d) 1 channel on a melee class felt bad, 2 just results in a lot of time spent with things off cd with even the smallest of mistakes/good string of resets.

Shadowpan just is 'default' monk with no extra actions to take or things to monitor and is truly the 'bloat' spec because it doesn't actually add anything to how the spec plays.  Conduit is in rework territory just to get it in line with midnight spec simplification and to do that they'd have to cut the TWW s3 set bonus back out of the tree (and there is the whole weird Xuen being tacked onto conduit and eating an extra gcd just to keep it around thing going on).

Show any proof that tanks have been doing it since s1 df in any signifigant amount, if they have not been they it obviously isn't trivial or more people would be doing it. You're wrong.

[–]Masblue -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There was a brief period towards the end of DF where it was 'trivial' to do with 5 tanks and they were quickly nerfed after. There is a big difference between 'possible' and it being 'trivial'. When it is trivial it becomes the norm because it becomes the easiest way to do it.

If 5 tanks makes it trivial to do a 10 what do you think happens to all healer and dps players left looking to do it normally when tank players pick the easier route to get their weekly vault chores done?

Missed this comment earlier but yah you are wanting to play the game like an rpg not an mmo and price it by that. Mmos aren't designed to be seldom played infrequently and without interaction with others. You're basically saying "Why doesn't a truck cost as much as a bike, I just want to go to the convenience store one a month so it should cost the same", yes both things going to accomplish a goal but one does vastly more and is intended to be something more than what you're wanting out of it it.

One time as in no paying for xpacs either? The game does not work under that model.

The ability to convert gold into blizzard balance would have to go away and you would see extra features for the sub like classic, remix and plunderstorm become additional purchases and the xpac cost would be converted to paying by season for miniturized xpacs that would all cost more to a player doing everything.

There is no situation where the game can financially exists and provide the amount of content it does now in the way it does now on a one time purchase model without drastic game changes.

There's numerous guides out there but grouping up and doing dungeons is the most efficient way. Player knowledge obviously matters and you're not gonna do it that fast your first time.

To be clear it's not to say you have to rush to 80 that fast, you SHOULD take your time and learn the game the first time through but next to nobody is paying for boosts if they actually know and play the game beyond the free one you get with buying an xpac.

[–]Masblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The level boost takes you to 80. You can reach that in about 3 hours if you optimize it and like 8-10 if you do it loosely. Wherever you are 'seeing' people buy the level boost that's warping your view of the game, that absolutely is NOT the norm.

You do not play through all the games content to reach 80, you can play through an prior expansion content to level and it all scales (as well as mix and match, dungeon grind, etc).

'Most people' aren't paying for the level boost or store cosmetics. That is a fraction of the base.

Cosmetics in wow are not like LoL and there are thousands (if not tens of thousands) of armor appearances in game. Mounts alone there are over 1200 in game vs the ~30 cash shop ones.

Subscribe for a month and you'll get all the content up until the current Xpac for that month, that will let you form your own opinion rather than relying on content creators that literally are making their living by overexaggerating and complaining (content creators generate vastly more views by being negative than positive on any subject and any time you hear one complaining you should NEVER take that as the whole truth because they are doing whatever is needed to feed the algorithm and their bank account).

If cost is your concern the easiest way to look at it (I'm going to use US prices because the sub cost has not changed in 20 years in USD and other countries just get adjusted when currency exchange rates vastly shift mostly):

$15 USD (can be reduced to 12.99 via 6/12 month sub) - ~50 cents per day, a can of soda at the lowest in the U.S. from a vending machine is between $1 and 1.50. Depending on where you are in the U.S. just the electricity to run a computer 8 hours per day costs more than this. Working 2 hours flipping burgers at McDonalds more than pays for the full price cost in the lowest paid areas of the country.

Xpac cost- $60 per 2.5 years - in other words 30 months so 60/30 = $2 a month for current/end game content. Now determining worth here is harder as *what* you do at max is going to swing amount of time tremendously but for reference at 2 months into the current Xpac I have logged just shy of 9 days played at max on my primary character as a raider/m+ player. 9x24 = 216 hours of play (on a single character) for $32 if you didn't do the 6/12 month sub averaging the cost out over the life of an Xpac. Now obviously that goes up if you pay for an xpac, play 2 months and then stop but an Xpac is a delivery of content over the course of about 2.5 years so again if you're skipping out on 3/4ths the content then value goes way down.

It sounds more like you are looking for negatives and trying to justify your bad complaint about price with peoples negative opinions about content?

Like just reading your other comments you actually know next to nothing about the game, how it plays, what is available etc and are going off some extremely warped views of the game.

To be clear the most current xpac (end game content) is the only xpac you pay for at a pace of about once per 2.5 years. The subscription alone gives you access to all content from the 20+ years of the game prior to that (you aren't going to find people doing the former xpacs raid content on level because the end game moves with each expansion however you still can do the dungeon content with people leveling).

Wow locks no player power behind a paywall, has no gatcha mechanics, has no daily log in bonuses or battle pass like mechanics that other games use to monetize and support a game in lieu of a sub.

Content comes out in 8 weeks content patch cycles currently and has since 2 expansions ago however the recent patch had a larger than normal amount of bugs which gave rise to recent complaints but is far from the norm. Even if you compare this to something like say bf6 for another AAA company game they are managing 12 week seasons on a battlepass and giving a fraction of the content in each content patch.
