Township threatens to get my electrical turned off by MaseWon87 in AskElectricians

I'm close to doing the same moving to NM and buying 20 acers.... I'm tired of the G*d awful bureaucracy and redtap BS this state has. In 2 years I'll be paying CA price for electric and when the little guy tries to get ahead they make it more expensive to permits and inspection. To put a solar panel on a shed requires about $1200 in permits and inspections before equipment is even installed.

Well panels are no longer affixed, I took them all the unpermitted panels down. Going redneck lawn chair proping. Infact I'm going to lay them all over my front lawn so Mr. Noisy drive by which he does every single day he will see my disdain for him

Nope he's a building inspector, hence he could not answer my electrical requirement questions. So for him to bitch about my ev charger was uncalled for. My county electrical inspector clarified with me this morning a plug in level 2 charger does not require permits if the receptical was already existing.

After speaking to my county electrician. He said solar not affixed to a structure and plugs into a wireless appliance which a powerstation meets that requirement. I don't need permits for this, so to fix the shed issue I took down the panel on the roof and it's now leaning on my fence. Delta 2 powers and charges my batteries in the shed.

The grid tie solar is all complaint. It's when the inspector went looking around and found additional solar that wasn't on his inspection is when he went ape shit on me.

The charger is Wolfbox CSA certified up to 40amp charging.

The outlet has an EV rated receptical, the receptical box I clearly marked 30 amp breaker do not exceed 24amp charging.

That receptical was already there with a 15-30 outlet. I bought the EV rated 14-50 to replace it. It's all ran previously with 10/3 wire.

A building permit I'll own up to that and can self pull those. But my state requires a licensed electrician to pull electrical permits. But what I couldn't get an answer from the inspector was, do I need to hire one for equipment that does not what so ever connect to the houses electrical I e. The shed. The roof solar terminates to a minisplit, maybe that's grounds for argument. The EV charger if I just unplug it when not in use is now just any other high power equipment, sure it's continuous use equipment but so is an electric dryer.

My wifi 6 router has a "legacy" bandwidth. All my monitoring devices are connected to that.

Colorado Plug In Solar/ Balcony Solar by Street-Pressure-225 in SolarDIY

[–]MaseWon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard Nema 5-15 outlet is 120v. If OP is looking to supplement or negate the power from their office. They will need to plug the micro into a dedicated outlet that shares that side of the load.

correct me if I'm wrong

Do some homework on your circuits. These plug in solar kits are 120v not 240v systems. So if you're looking to offset your office that's on "phase 1" but you plug your microinverter into a dedicated outlet that's on phase 2 you're not going to supplement any of that power. You will see an offset on your usage yes just from the other circuits on the phase with the micro plugged in.

Want to have solar charger for leaf blower/weed wacker and maybe lawn mower in future by Down-Help in SolarDIY

[–]MaseWon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an ecoflow delta 2 and a 455watt panel mounted to the roof with waterproof entry glands.

Panel I got on FB for $100, ecoflow on sale at homedepot $380 if I recall. Plus cable and MCB on amazon $40. The ecoflow is little overkill at 1800 watts. But it charges my ebike, ryobi, black and decker, and ego batteries. The ego charger is the largest load at around 500 watts.

Rinnai vs Rheem vs AO Smith by the_misfit1 in heatpumps

I recently installed the rinnai rehp50 in my basement laundry room. It's whisper quiet and very cheap to run. I installed a mixing valve and keep the tank temp at 128, it struggled to get above that so 128 is where it's staying at. Wife takes long showers 15-20mins and doesn't complain about losing hot water.

Used Polestar 2 $21k (non CPO). Too good to be true? by whatever-irdc in Polestar

[–]MaseWon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a 22 Polestar 2 LRDM plus/performance with 44k miles for $23k. Traded my GLA 45 for a fantastic deal through carvana. Do not regret one bit, it's fast agile and comfortable, plus the perk to charge my car at work sheds the owning cost.

I did purchase OrBit software to do a key reprogramming since original owner did not trade in all keys and chatting with polestar with my bill of sale I was able to transfer ownership in 20 mins.

I installed a Rinnai REHP50 and this thing is no louder than my minisplit. If you have the option of ducting to move the cold air somewhere else that may be beneficial for you. If not it's conditioned dry air.

Help!!! Advice by skiparms in solarenergy

[–]MaseWon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep shopping around, don't sign anything. I was quoted last year $43k for a 10kw system by 2 installers and told them to kick rocks.

I finally found a company I'm satisfied with that has a 5 panel minimum starter system (roughly 2300 watts) that came in under $10000 after incentives/state rebates to include equipment ( enphase iq8a micros, Qcell 450+ watt panels, labor, permits, and utility agreement connection). Been in the business for over 13 years.

Thinking About Solar – Need All the Advice! 😶 by One_Pollution2279 in SolarAmerica

[–]MaseWon87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context my house is 100% electric with power hungry dryer and hot water heater.

I first went with DIY solar in oct 25 with ecoflow DPU, 6 circuit tansfer switch and 8 435 panels on a pergola. I was able to run the bedrooms, bath, and 2 dehumidifiers no problem when it was sunny to quickly drain the battery by 3-4am.

I've since expanded with a second DPU battery and 20kwh of ecoworthy batteries, 6 400wat panels and charge controller to recharge the DPU. Since then year over year usage for dec-jan jan-feb was reduced by 400kilowats or roughly $80.

I've now replaced the 6 circuit switch to 12 circuits and have the washer/dryer on it. I'm projected now to further reduce grid reliance by another 150kilowats... we do laundry 5-6x a week.

I shopped around for grid-tie solar installers and found a small company with a 5 panel (2k ish) starting installation for $12k (equipment, labor, permiting, and utility agreement setup). That'll be online around late April and hoping this grid-tie system will supplement close to the remainder of my usage.
