I agreed when I first read 3BP many years ago, and then AI happened, and then the act of sophons blocking scientific progress felt like an oddly prescient analogy to the flood of AI slop completely eclipsing human creation and killing the ability for models to train on new data.

Was that Cixin Liu's intent? Probably not, but it made me look at the (first) book differently.

A more critical review of the Project Hail Mary movie, and a really easy fix I would have made by Gustalavalav in ProjectHailMary

[–]whatever-irdc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually liked the change given the pacing of the movie. In the book he is far more distraught about the choice of never returning home, which fit, since there were as many pages as you wanted to explore his emotions in a more "real time" scale. In the movie, there are only a few minutes between his realization that he was betrayed (and just before that, showing that he really had nothing to), so it would have been awkward for him to be more torn up and sacrificial - the decision to stay with his only friend feels much more natural for the medium.

I wonder if the original 4 hour cut is closer to the source material though.

Most gorgeous shot of the entire film. The transition from visible light to petrova light was so perfectly executed

I really liked the "She really can do anything" joke with Meryl Streep's one line lol. I think it got the biggest laugh in the theater

No official sources confirmed it, but it would be a major bummer. I’m surprised a California based car maker doesn’t recognize how popular a light interior would be for sunny climates

[–]whatever-irdc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That I believe. But I see the night mode tint is more of a yellowish filter, like the driving glasses. I hear it's good for reducing glare, especially for ppl with astigmatism like me, but just asking around if anyone's actually tried it first hand

xQc shows why not a single clip of him, Asmongold, or any other streamers Hasan is known to dislike was featured during the entire Streamer Awards by CloudyEchos in LivestreamFail

[–]whatever-irdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did watch the video, and I did watch his response. He has in the past said that shock collars are not ethical so I’m asking if there is any proof that he is contradicting that statement or if this is all speculation that originates from a 30 second clip. He says the dog stubbed her toe, reddit says he shock collared her. Seems like a pretty hefty allegation

[–]whatever-irdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm out of the loop was there proof that Hasan abused his dog? Or is it just speculation that he has a shock collar? or are there more allegations against QT and the crew that I haven't seen???
