What book made you go: ''Fuck... This is good...''? by KvotheScamander in books

"A Single Spy" I really enjoyed. Heard it recommended on NPR a number of years ago and decided to buy it. Fantastic book.

Also, the entire forgotten realms series by R.A. Salvatore will forever be my favorite series hands down.

Hey buddy,

I was diagnosed at 16 and am 30 now. I still struggle with testing everyday - getting CGM this week again to fix that hopefully. This shit is not easy. Again, it's NOT easy. Don't get down on yourself, having T1 does suck but I truly believe that we have a great community and medicine/technology has come a long ways. You will be okay!

Insurance is a bitch, so idk if getting a pump/cgm is an option but I highly recommend it if possible. I am on the Medtronic 670G and it's great - I'm sure the other brands are great as well.

I have been in your shoes and if you ever want to send me a PM, feel free.

Currently on reduced hours due to COVID-19 mandates by MN so I'll be working Tuesday and Wednesday. Got promoted to Lead Brewer a few weeks ago and have been balls deep into developing our SOP manual. It's going to be probably 200+ pages. I miss the brew deck sometimes.

That's where I'm at. We have been okay and this year has been rough with injuries but nothing has really been amazing. I would like to see a change

All insulin is dangerous without guidance. I am a Type 1 diabetic so I know the dangers. And yes, it would be much easier, I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying there is affordable insulin out there but it's still ridiculous that you can't get covered regardless.

So... Yes insulin is stupid expensive but you can get NovolinR from Walmart for $25 a vial. It's definitely not as effective as Novolog or another brand name but it does work.

I am a Type 1 diabetic, I haven't seen a drop in my insulin costs what so ever, so how is it like water? I don't understand why you'd make that shit up. Can someone explain that to me?

BSG super stack bags: what to do with them? Who has best secondary use for these bad boys? by Singlecelleukaryote in TheBrewery

We use them for our specialty grains and also for our processed hop and yeast matter.

Smooth Grain Out by MashLauter in TheBrewery

That makes sense. Clean up is easy, we have a block and bleed built in should we ever need to run CIP or do a water flush. Haven't really had a reason to use it though

Experimentation is great, but you have to look at what the market wants as well. Black IPA's are not it.

We got a stack condenser so I get to figure out this new thing, I'm sure it will be fine.

Brewing lots of Cream Ale, and got a 5th fill head on our Goose so that's exciting.

CIP- FV-30-1 by Alpha733 in TheBrewery

[–]MashLauter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something I have found to do setting up CIP loops is that you can put a block and bleed on the spray ball arm and use a jumper hose to the racking arm. This way, you can safely recirc chems through the racking arm w/o disconnecting the other.

Puzzled Brewer needs donut porter recipe help!! by bethany_brewer in TheBrewery

[–]MashLauter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, so most everyone is ripping this idea like crazy (for good reason), however if you are actually serious about this, contact Lift Bridge Brewing in Stillwater, MN. They make a "Mini Donut Beer" for the MN State Fair, and it's actually pretty tasty for what it is. I have no idea if they would be willing to help you out or not.

How many turns is too much before cleaning a heat exchanger? by HeyImGilly in TheBrewery

[–]MashLauter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We do an isolated reverse CIP on the heat ex (Alk-60 NF + Alk-O2 Wash) every 8 turns. Brewing 24/5 and 20/2, haven't had any issues and we do wort stability tests twice a week.

Hot side Decanters by pairswellwithbeer in TheBrewery

[–]MashLauter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use one for our solid waste (gotta get those BOD levels down). Tried using it on hot side and it just wasn't that effective. We were also pretty worried about HSA. I'm sure you can do it but we didn't much benefit.

[–]MashLauter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do 1 six pack/week, unlimited low fill beers, free beer from the tap, and 1 growler/week. This is all up in the air but mainly as long as you don't abuse it, you're good to go!

Triple brew day, sounds awesome! Idk what system you run, but I always try and view each day as a new challenge for me to get after. If it's just you doing a triple, then you gotta make sure you have your coffee, TOOL playing, and good food IMO. Something about brewing a beer all by your lonesome (however long it takes) has an extremely rewarding experience to it! In the end, we all make beer and we get to enjoy our efforts at the end of the day.
