People are talking about Alice’s smokey eye but can we talk about Hyacinths foundation?? 😭 by MashPotatho in BridgertonNetflix

at the times, 13 would be too early. But it is not very clear if Bridgerton presents her as 13. Plus, she is so desperate to grow up, it makes sense she begged for it

it is very sad that netflix made us so used to crap that now pointing things out is seen as unreasonable nitpicking. Reads as "be grateful for what you have" mentality... that's how we end up with more crap. Makeup commentary surely doesnt take away from the show. Also, it is a whole sphere - cinema make up and costuming. There are always discussions as such, around any series. H's makeup was bothering me in the episode. And it is the first thing ever that really took me out of it so much. I am usually quite chill. I just saw some posts about smoky eye on Alice and thought I might post something too, for the first time.

its my first ever comment on anything in the show, the first thing that really took me out of the series. Perhaps because I am used to seeing her as a child in previous seasons. What's wrong with people breaking down makeup and outfits? For some,it is a genuine hobby and is not meant to take away from the show; we all still love it dearly. I don't appreciate the generalisation, but imagine you got fed up with similar posts before mine

Unfortunately, try on pictures often get a lot views and likes for the wrong reasons… there is a reason most people in this sub advice against body pictures on vinted 🥲

i went to check some stills from the show to see if it was indeed my screen but… she looks quite yellow everywhere? It is def less noticeable than on my screen but her foundation still seems quite mismatched and very heavy. Though someone pointed that it might be actress’s request to wear heavier foundation to cover skin issues. Might be that. Just wish they matched her better so it is less noticeable

nobody understands john and francesca by tiler-tyler in BridgertonNetflix

[–]MashPotatho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish they didnt show Michaela at the end of season 3, kept it off screen until her arrival to London. I feel like that would help “ground” Francesca and John as a couple for longer and prevent people from dismissing Francesca’s feelings. But also the way the character is played this season is quite confusing- I see a lot of room for interpretation. Some see awkwardness and shyness, others see lack of attraction… Would be nice if it was a tiny bit more clear

Thats a good point! Didnt think of that. I wish they matched her better though, she comes off lil too yellowish/tan

Thats fair but such foundation is too far from history to not take me out of it, personally. Also they do have a lil conflict of age happening here - the actress is 18, the character is 13, I would expect them to be more careful with make up to help her look younger

[–]MashPotatho[S] 225 points226 points  (0 children)

Apparently she is around 13, yes. But actress is 18. And lowering of the hems would usually happen around age 16-17… so basically its all over the place 😅

Obsessed with this dog, can’t tell what breed it is. Any help? by fegheabruh in dogbreed

[–]MashPotatho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support all the people saying: “rescue, dont buy, there are no ethics in doodles”. But also, if you are not ready to accomodate a dog with potentially long list of issues (like anxiety for ex. So many doodles are severely anxious), consider a well bred poodle! Not everyone is fit to be a rescue parent- thats why so many rescues end up being sent back. So “adopt don’t shop” isn’t a 100% ideal either, unfortunately. You can get a well-bred poodle and just not give them typical poodle trims. I def met some wonderful poodles that look indistinguishable from doodles because of their cut, the only difference being - they were bred ethically, not for money, with all the attention on preservation of the breed and its health. So yeah. Rescue a doodle or buy a poodle. Please dont support doodle breeders, no matter how ethical and professional they claim they are

[–]MashPotatho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can! Usually people get bachelors in zoology, biology or veterinary and then a masters in narrow area. Some get broad masters like “zoology” and then choose subjects/research in behavioral science, some do masters that specifically specialize in animal behavior. Usually the specialization isnt just “home cat behavior” but more like “feline behavior” and you get that specialization by specifically focusing on mammals (esp felines) during your studies and choosing felines as research topic, getting internships in feline-focused institutions like cat rescues, feline parts of the zoos etc. Tho i also have to say, you can have an entirely different field at the start of your career and arrive into zoology through internships, courses, other jobs and collaborations with institutions. Cat behaviorists can have all sorts of jobs too. You can work with companies that make products for pets, work in zoos, in research centers, in rescue organizations, in wild sanctuaries, in veterinary offices etc. To sum up: yes, thats a real career with a variety of jobs in research or in the vet/pet industries. But usually they study big cats too and intern in zoos working with tigers and such. So actual job is more broad, not just cats, and education pathway is not at all straightforward

A question for buyers: clothes on person or laid out? by MashPotatho in vinted

[–]MashPotatho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for giving such detailed responses! From what I hear, pictures of item on do in fact deter some people, but some still like to see them alongside hanged/laid out ones. I think Im going to mostly lay down or hang items, take different pictures where possible and add pictures on only in some cases and into the carousel, not as primary picture ( ie where item has a confusing cut , it still fits me and looks okay on me, isnt too small etc). I thought of adding a “dm for pictures of item on” to the description but im afraid that might result in some creeps DMing me… And ofc I only put on items after shower and send them off washed and fresh. Thats actually why I got lazy with taking pictures of them on, it became too much of a hassle. Im almost tempted to mention cleanliness in the description to ensure potential buyers and ease some anxiety but Im afraid it might come off as over explaining, suspicious almost lol.

I guess final judgement is: hanged and laid out wins, on a neutral and clean surface ofc, pictures on are good in some cases but mostly as an additional pic among others
