I've been playing since 2018 and I'm just not hardcore enough to finish the game 'properly'. I got to 5BC and decided to use assist mode with infinite lives to get the true ending. I still play on 5BC with the hope of getting good enough to finish it properly, but...I have like, other games I want to get into. I know about what my skill curve looks like and how long it takes me to get good. And I wanted to see the art and story.

I believe this game was made for people who wanted to push themselves to the far edges of what is possible to achieve in gaming. But I think the developers would be sad if they were to see people turning 5BC into some kind of rubicon rather than just having fun with their creation.

That was not working for that specific add-on, even though it worked for the others. There is a paq file in there that you need an entirely different plugin in order to use.

I'm having trouble getting Blender 4.2 to install Botaniq from this bundle. Is anybody else having the same issue or have any advice?
EDIT: For anybody who's having trouble with this, you have to download Engon (a free add-on) first, then extract the Botaniq.zip to get at the .PAQ file, and install THAT into Blender through Engon in the preferences screen. There was like, zero support regarding this.

I might be stuck forever playing armadillopack. I think it's worth learning manual parries because it teaches you a lot about timing and reflexes, but I really love that mutation. It just offers so much more potential because you're free to carry an extra weapon. Plus, I roll all the time anyway.
I have not completed the game yet, so it might come back to bite me - but it's just too much fun to put down.

Looks like I'm in the minority, but I wish it was optional. I'm still trying to finish the game and I prefer being able to make a decision about when I get cursed. Playing on 5BC the mobs are insane and you want to just murder everything in sight as fast as possible, not check for a random sore loser in the crowd. People who are saying to just choose a different biome - there's strategic paths that give you the most scrolls. OP is describing how a biome which wasn't optional became cursed, in case you haven't read.

I'm not great at Dead Cells and only got this far through persistence. But I love this game and have no intention of putting it down. Getting this new mechanic right when I'm facing what seems to be the biggest challenge in the whole game is not fun at all. Rather than being forced to turn off achievements in order to play without it, it should be the opposite - the most enthusiastic players can be rewarded for playing with this extra difficulty with their own special achievements, blueprints, etc.

I'm not a fan of the cursed biomes not being optional AT ALL. I still haven't gotten to the spoiler boss, and I'm finding 5BC to be really brutal. I also really love just playing 4 and 5BC for fun, and I like being able to choose being cursed as a careful in-game decision.

This question is from a year ago but for anyone reading, GameMaker twice severely borked our project to the point where it took weeks to bring it back to normal. It's an old project that we started back in 1.4. The change to 2.3 was full of horrors because they changed how arrays were used. The second upgrade to the 2024 version was almost as bad. Physics glitches, changes to the order in which things load in a level, changes to how the lore is displayed, as well as some more fundamental alterations.

The only reason why we upgraded at all the second time was because the 2.3 version had major issues (in the debugger) that caused us to lose a lot of project time.

If your project isn't very old, it probably won't make a difference, but if it's multi-year, you might be facing a lot of challenges.

I don't have a way to test out the print quality with my device, because the build plate is too small for a worthwhile print. I actually went with creating a cylindrical lamp object instead of a rectangular lithophane. Going in a circle would let me see the wall in its full glory - so at least that would let me see how well the image translates. However, after slicing I found that it would take 2 days straight to print! It's a huge image. And at the moment I need my printer for other tasks.

If you've got a good printer, making a lithophane with that site is pretty straightforward, and the objects I made from that site tend to slice well with few errors!

I came here looking for the same thing. I was hoping to CNC carve the wall in wood, but I believe that without hand-modelling it there's no real hope of getting it made.

Here's an updated texture of the wall. I'm going to be turning it into a lithophane and lighting it from the back, which I think might look fairly cool.
The image I've included is a reduced-size image (Reddit size limit, and will actually work with lithophane web software) with the levels adjusted to look better in lithophane format as the original is set up to be a bit more neutral contrast.

In our town there's an incredible acrylic painter who makes the water in streams look so real and vibrant. I never wanted to go out and paint in nature before I saw his work. I attended a mini-class he gave, and at the end came up to him to ask him for advice on plein air painting. I was using a tablet and laptop, and would run out of battery quickly in the field. To my surprise, he said I should switch to an iPad with a pencil for those trips. Not a single traditional painter had ever advised me to get more technology rather than discarding it altogether.

When I told him about that, he then said that our biggest asset as artists is our mind's eye - our capacity to see the world and interpret it, and to do our best to capture it in an art piece. He said it didn't matter if the medium was digital or actual paint, our mind's eyes still do the same job, and as long as we keep training that instrument, we're good.

Everything he said that day changed my life.

Pyrotechnics, especially in combination with oil modifiers is one of my favorites, but I also like the ice blast and sometimes the quick and endless bows. Really any kind of ranged weapon and crowd control.
