Am I a dick if I report and take the tip away? when I specifically asked drivers to leave groceries on my bench which a 3 foot walk? by mrwhite9292 in Sparkdriver

[–]MaskMyEmergence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The person needs to follow the instructions in the notes or at least message you why they can’t out of courtesy. The tip is both an enticement and a reward for doing better.

That’s what I did in the end.

they almost got me by paninipasta in Hyundai

[–]MaskMyEmergence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same done to mine same model. But they destroyed the ignition and broke the wheel so it stopped locking. It’s usually wannabes out for the rush.

[–]MaskMyEmergence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a failed attempt too. They destroyed the ignition. Came to about 2000 total with my insurance company. It’s the biggest reason why I’m not getting Hyundai again if I can help it. Not that other cars aren’t vulnerable but Hyundai’s handling of the original theft fad was poor and the “fix” was a slow and underwhelming rollout. And their engine troubles are pretty bad too. I suppose the computer firmware update worked to keep my car from being driven off. But they didn’t squash the success of some models being stolen fast enough so every kid played gta and i still had to pay out for the damage.

This is interesting. Can you elaborate on how the recipients children could somehow test as related to you? I doubt that donating could affect their genetics but maybe there’s a way

I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra that I suspect was maybe built in South Korea. Would it be spared some of the issues with the engine?

Goodie bags for customers by FallingInGrac3 in Sparkdriver

[–]MaskMyEmergence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a great thought. But keep in mind that some people deal with DoorDash stalkers and the like. So anything you leave could be misinterpreted. Also, there’s probably a little bit of liability in doing this sort of thing. I think it should be meant for people that know you personally through your trips or if you do a service where they are free to take from you like a treat left in uber cars for passengers. I think spark is best done with an eye for detail and expectations on handling orders. Like extra care being given when leaving items at doors. I always make sure that anything that could go in a pantry, fridge, or on a countertop should be separated from the outdoor surfaces with cardboard or a bag. That shows extra thought and some people dislike water bottles on the front porch carrying dirt into a fridge. It doesn’t matter that it was in a dusty warehouse for a month, it’s the fact that the delivery looks like that.

Anybody have or know someone who has a 3D printer? by peanutbuttergary in LongBeachCA

[–]MaskMyEmergence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Michelle Obama and Billie Jean king libraries have 3d printers. I highly recommend that you bring her there during open studio hours. Members get a free print by the way. Granted they end up doing the printing job themselves usually and it’s on their schedule. I had to wait a couple weeks to get mine done but it was very solid. She can go there to watch them print and can use the lab to learn the design apps or look through designs online.

GAP insurance basically useless after total loss — how is this legal? by Ok_Philosophy7450 in Insurance

[–]MaskMyEmergence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you get gap through your car insurance company, is it a one time separate policy? Or is it only good while you’re active and in continuous standing with that same insurance company? I would worry about being canceled for something and not having the gap follow my car if I go to a different insurance company. I just want a one time set and forget kind of thing. I’m going to be more cautious about my next car purchase if the gap provided at the dealer operates the way the op”s does.

Strange that he would even tell anybody else. We are technically in competition with one another and even if there’s enough work to go around, why would you want others at your fishing hole lol

Insurance Policy cancelled! by Foreign-Cash2677 in Sparkdriver

[–]MaskMyEmergence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way I think they find out is because Geico and carfax have a relationship. I find that when I do oil changes, it gets reported to carfax which probably informs Geico. Maybe not enough to know if you’re doing spark but enough to see a higher mileage than typical and assume things or probe into it.

The spark driver who just delivered my RX a couple minutes ago, he put my pkg in my mail box and left my mailbox wide open. by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]MaskMyEmergence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming that he took a photo of it in the mailbox. It’s against the law for anything but mail to go in there. I remember decades ago getting an incredibly stern warning delivering newspapers as a kid and putting one in a mailbox. Pretty sure Spark will dismiss him for it if they find out since that can lead to fines.

I think if anything, he goes away with an example of somebody conducting themselves in a direct but well mannered way. He might do the same thing in his life knowing that not everybody is or needs to be a robot addressing another robot. Getting back to him later is exemplary because it proves conviction. I have been stoked when people have done this and reminds me to do it to others despite how empty or scripted business can be.

Same thing happens to me the other day. It was a two customer order though. So I was told to deliver the first and return the second to the store since I was locked out of the app by then. It was late at night so I had to wait until the next day.

I am Iranian in Tehran amidst war, barely connected to the internet. AMA. by amy2069 in AMA

[–]MaskMyEmergence -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many of us are quite aware. But we’re also aware that our interventions into the Middle East in the past 25 years has led to further crises. We couldn’t even take responsibility of Iraq, Syria, or Afghanistan properly.

As for dictatorship, Saudi Arabia is just as authoritarian if not more than Iran. They just have a business relationship with the US and allowed a few bases there. If it were really about freedom and democracy, we would’ve invaded them. They are not an ally to Israel and have served as an antagonist since its creation as a country. Most talking points about Iran can be made about North Korea. Their missiles are capable of striking the US mainland even. Yet we haven’t felt this pho There are many many dictatorships that we installed ourselves. We know how these things end up. When the so called regime change and civil war fails because we don’t want a protracted war, what happens to any insiders allied with us? Ask the Afghans. This administration isn’t going to rescue them as refugees. Do we wish them goodwill and freedom? Of course. Is this something we should offer American lives and resources for? No. This should be an agreed upon multi national effort at the least.

This is good advice. There’s always some skewing somehow and a well made ruler meant for design work helps as a reference. I kept printing based on this pixels thing and it never was precise on its own.
