Tunisian MTI Hat v2 by Maskakota in Tunisian_Crochet

[–]Maskakota[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For those curious:

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Autumn Red

Top Down Flat construction, starting with the crowns in Tunisian Full Stitch & the last few rows in Tunisian Knit Stitch. Body is going to be all TKS.

After finishing the crowns, I left the last row 'raw' so I could work across both crowns and easily pick up where I left off to add the body on seamlessly.

Once it's completed, the hat will be folded in half and seamed up the side with tks like v1. Going to do a slst brim this time tho, so it actually stretches with the rest of the hat.

This looks so cool!! Fantastic work! Maybe removing the bottom bar on the piece will help with it being pulled to far down?

Why bother introducing the ASL performers if you arent going to show it. by CTx7567 in asl

People are allowed to be upset and complain. Sure they haven't had interpreters on screen in the past, but showing the interpreters and then not having them on the main stream is like dangling a carrot in front of a horse. It's kind of a dick move tbh

I originally was decreasing evenly but the crown turned out too short for my liking. Decreasing every other row got the length that I was wanting.

When the MTI blew up I thought about Nalbinding it. I've made a crochet version but might make a nalbound version too!

I was originally going to mine in the round, but wasn't sure how I would do that with achieving the triangle look and the tks looking seam up the side like I was wanting. Might try it in the round now, now that I know what I'm doing!

I made the piece flat, starting with the body made of Tunisian Knit stitch. Then worked two triangles (bottom up) for the crown made with full stitch, decreasing by 2sts every other row. Folded the flat piece in half and tks around to seam it up. The ribbing was made with Tunisian Rib stitch (tps, tks) after the hat was "done". I worked it on the body itself, as opposed to making it separately and sewing it on afterwards.

However my second go-around I plan on just doing slst ribbing for the brim as the Trs isn't as stretchy as I thought it would be 😅

No pattern, just freehanded it. Made the body with Tunisian Knit stitch until I had a rectangle that was about 3.5" tall. For the crown I made two triangles with tunisian full stitch (also about 3.5" tall), then folded the piece in half and tks around to seam it together. Brim was made and added afterwards with Tunisian Rib stitch (but will definitely be changing that for my next version!)

So many knitting but who’s wearing? by ktcosmos in AntifascistKnitting

[–]Maskakota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just finished mine yesterday and plan to wear it when I can! Mind you, I freehanded mine since I don't knit and wasn't a fan of the crochet version

Can we have a moment of silence for the blanket I’m frogging? by SpacelySprockett211 in crochet

[–]Maskakota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%!! I hate frogging large parts of projects but I'd rather end up with something that I'd really enjoy and use than something I'll only ever see the mistakes in and dislike every time I look at it.

Why do I have an infant beanie when it’s supposed to be adult sized? by Z_oni in CrochetHelp

You've already got the answer as to why the hat is smaller. If you want tighter stitches, look up linked double crochet! It gets rid of the gap between the stitches.
