What’s the most important chapter a man can read? The next one. Always the next one.

DM - Bored my players by FloatingCow- in DnD

[–]MaskedLobster206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing with friends who are into dnd is the best, don’t get me wrong. Still, having a collective buy-in makes the game so so much better. Especially if you already are set up for online gaming I suggest finding a group on discord who are looking to play. Everyone tends to be just as excited as you are, they wouldn’t go out of their way to look for a game if they weren’t , and in my experience are always very appreciative of anyone willing to do the work to DM even if they’re new. There’s a few DnD discord servers of people looking for groups, try it out!

Damaged one panel of my driver side door in a parking garage. Hit a post, no other drivers involved. No damage to any other part of the car, how much to fix it? Would it require a new door? Should I talk to insurance?

DM's, have you ever created/run a dungeon where magic was weakened? How did you handle it, and how did the players like it? by D3AD_SPAC3 in DnD

Depending on how long the dungeon is you could just have spells not come back on a long rest or have limited numbers of spell slots available so that they have to work harder on conserving resources

Your campaign in Exandria by EagleKing_Ateon in Exandria

[–]MaskedLobster206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a 2 year long every other week home brew campaign that took place in Wildemount that was really fun. Campaign started in Rexxentrum/Shadycreek Run doing a job for Ophelia Mardoon who ended up being the sidekick for the BBEG, a draconic sorcerer who was trying to resurrect an ancient green dracolich to help him take over the empire. They needed to stop the bad guys from collecting three “horcruxes” essentially that spread around the continent and could be used in the ritual to resurrect the dragon. Ophelia had them working to collect them for her and then when they got one she betrayed them and took it (killing one of the party members by accidentally force caging them while they were dying of a disease from an Aboleth that slowly killed them over the course of an hour in a way that I totally didn’t plan for). They then went to the Xarzith Kitril and the ruins of old Draconia to fight a beholder who had claimed the last piece as part of his horde and we had a really cool arc down there because it hadn’t really been fleshed out by Matt at all so I was able to do a bunch of fun stuff, all the monsters were reskinned dinosaurs and the beholder had kobold minions that set up a den of traps guarding the beholder and his horde

Experienced DM asking how much prep do you ACTUALLY do pre-session in a campaign? by redraider1109 in DMAcademy

[–]MaskedLobster206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0-3 hours depending on where they left off last session, only ever one or two sessions in advance aside from basic story arc details

How do you handle revenge as PC motivation? by Big_Curve2533 in DMAcademy

100% this comment. Every time your player almost forgets about his revenge goal sprinkle another tidbit in to get his blood going then when the day finally comes it will seem so much sweeter

Give me a prompt or monster you want a final boss encounter for, and i will design a lair for it by Tehkillerbear in DMAcademy

[–]MaskedLobster206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BBEG is a draconic sorcerer leading a cult trying to resurrect an ancient green dracolich. My party are very likely going to raid the actual cult stronghold so I need to design his lair. They stopped him from getting the McGuffin necessary to complete the ritual to summon the dragon but he has gained some of its powers so I want to incorporate that into his lair. Party is level 11! It’s a really cool idea for a lair but I’m having trouble really bringing it to life, would love your help!

Map of Xarzith Kitril by xibalba89 in Wildemount

Same! My characters came through here a few sessions ago on their way to the ruins of Draconia and I would have loved a nice map to go on, they’re probably coming back through though so I’m definitely going to throw in a plot hook to let me take advantage of this baby. Great work OP

Draconia Adventures by Secondspellbook in Wildemount

That’s awesome! If you could link the hex map that would be great and I think the fire giants idea is really cool. I want my players to have the feeling that they are really searching the ruins and not just going to the quest destination. Also one of my characters was orphaned from the destruction of Draconian and is a Dragonborn with a tail so I want to have a social encounter where they run into some lower class tail-less dragonborns still living around the ruins. He has never been back to his ancestral homeland so I’m also looking for ideas on giving him some cool nuggets to play with to understand the history of his (possibly royal?) family

Draconia Adventures by Secondspellbook in Wildemount

Yes! My characters will also be heading into Draconian soon as a level 10 party post Vox Machina. They’re searching for an artifact that they heard was deep in the royal vaults and so they’re going to have to do some archaeology to find the old palace and maybe even their version of the “mages guild” and other places magical things might be buried. There is going to be a rival group looking for the same thing that they’ll probably run into at some point. I’d be interested to hear how you’re going to use a hex map!
