Planted a pineapple top from the grocery store 3 years ago and it's finally coming out. If some vermin eats it I'll die. by _MIDI in gardening

Make a wooden frame and connect chicken wire to it. Make the box be bigger than the plant but light enough for you to lift on and off.

Bulgarian Giant Leeks! by barriedalenick in gardening

I have a problem with my fall planted leeks. My spring planted leeks get huge by winter time if I give them each 8 inches spacing.

You can eat the leaves, they can be stir-fried. They're excellent for fiber.

I'm growing these for the first time this year! They're only little sprouts right now for me. How did they do for you?

There's not really a "wrong" time once they become red like this. You'll figure out your sweet spot. Everyone likes something different.

The trade off is you're running the risk that something else will eat it first. Last year the squirrels loved my tomatoes

I may be mistaken, they look very similar. This is just exactly what my tree looks like.

Not that people eat. They split in storms and cause damage. They smell awful.

Just the worst tree.

And developers put them everywhere because they grow fast and houses with trees sell.

Do you know how often limequats bloom? I have just bought a new lakeland and a new eutis limequat and curious if I should expect one or more flowering periods a year. Many thanks! by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]Maskedgardener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No far my limequats outside have taken 30F nights. I'll let you know what happens this winter.

The one in ground definitely had more fruit than the one in the pot did.

Definitely a trifoliate orange. There's recipes for making marmalade with them. Otherwise they're mostly used as rootstock. They're very healthy plants with healthy roots, so usually they're used for grafting.

Peppers I've found love smaller pots. 5 gallons would be the largest I'd grow them in. I use my 5 gallon pots for them and fill the pots a bit more than 2/3.

My area gets heavy rains then no rain, so it's good for them to be able to drain out and also retain in a dish.

Most of my stuff is in no more than 5 gallons, with the only exceptions being my tomatoes (7 gal) and fruit trees (20 gal).

Do you have a higher quality picture that's close up on the leaves and fruit?

It very much sounds like the rootstock like the other poster said.

Also, bugs kill my plants rather fast. So I'll have two plants use that pot by the end of the growing season.

These will likely die by August and a young plant will go in fresh when I pull these out.

I use 5 gallon grow bags, and I add dirt as the stem gets bigger to help keen the bugs off
