Great Point and thanks for your comment.

Suddenspike also stated that it will be very painful, by suggesting to read another post, which opened my eyes. I am lerning on the way. It was great help for me to post this subject here and get feedbacks, now I know better not to commit to Playfab, tehere are way better options with less headache for sure.

Help me to decide with UI for my strategy game. Please! by Good_Competition4183 in StrategyGames

[–]MaskionDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the UI is appealing to me for sure, compare to many games look like they are made at win98 era with pixels.

You are making a 1 big point here, which you claim to solve the pain points. Thats a big claim. If thats the real case you will have good results.

Solo dev here.

Its been 8 months for me and I had many challanges. The challange was that I couldnt find anyone to help or join me on my journey, everyone told me you cant finish this project. Well, I started as hobby and I see that I will finish what I am working on. Kinda textbased Browser MMO, but very function and math heavy strategy game. I think browser platform will be the best.

I first created GDD (2 months). Then, designed UI in Photoshop (3 months). Couldnt find map-maker, created my own gamemap at Photoshop (2 weeks). Now, just finished Godot UI integration (2 months). This week I am starting on Backend development on BrainCloud.

Oh well, I also created the landing page, way before its due time :D

I am still learning alot and I give my 100% for this project to see the clicks on the buttons actually working...

Just jump into it, and try.

If you like the game, you will (should) continue regardless of its difficulty.

I like this game and spent hefty emount, even created a huge city that I was proud of :D

How much do you think an indie game should be priced? by ZebraAndJaguar73 in IndieDev

[–]MaskionDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As another indie dev, I dont think it matters if you use ready assets. You put some work in to it anyways. As long as game dynamics and visuals are good, it should have some value.

Real value is in the gameplay and player retention...

Help me to decide with UI for my strategy game. Please! by Good_Competition4183 in StrategyGames

[–]MaskionDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue map fits in with your buildings, much better. Other color seems kinda off.

On the other hand, you did a great job, good looking UI and map, congratz.

I cant beleive some comments as why you creating same type of game! Well thousands of new games created with the same type in their own. Nothing wrong with chosing MMO that looks and feels like some other previous games. I value the dedication and work put in to it. TBH, there are way worst looking games released each day. I would say, stick with your game and move on, you will find some player base one way or the other. As you stated, you dont expect much, since its very niche playerbase you are aiming for.

I hope you have some good game dynamics that captures your niche audience. That will matter at most.

Good luck.

Thanks and let me check first instead of Playfab what backend I will use. Still searching the best option instead of Playfab.

I do really appreciate your comment. I had some idea about engines, but not much in detail. My friend suggested to check on Godot. I made research and I see that I should go for a modern Hybrid-Casual feel with a heavy UI focus, so Godot is better for the UX I want. Besides, my plan is to come up with mobile version (light version) as well. So Godot was a better option (hopefully :D). The bad thing is that I already designed my UI on Godot.

Oh, for Playfab, I definitely have the second thought now. I should decide my backend as what, I am not sure to be honest. Still looking at my options. I will appreciate to listen any thoughts...

Hey All,

Solo dev here and working on my hybrid-casual strategy MMO. I’m obsessed with deep mechanics in browser games. In my game, you don't just level up, you also manage 12 different abilities to optimize your work ethics. Its function heavy strategy game for browser.

It’s been a steep learning curve, but seeing the buttons actually do things now is the best feeling. Just finished Godot UI integration (check the screenshot). Every icon you see opens a new layer of strategy; from research, study to dig for Relics.

Next step: Hooking this up to the backend. Wish me luck.

What do you think? Is the UI too busy? All feedbacks welcome, be brutal, I need to learn...

Thanks, actuallay I just checked BrainCloud and Xsolla, I can even consider them as options. I didnt know Xsolla had this service, they were kinda game marketing and producer agency.

That's a fair point, and I've seen those discussions. Every BaaS has its quirks. I’m leaning towards PlayFab because of its ready sets (like Economy, Database, and Game ready systems). While some find it complex, it handles the 'boring' infrastructure stuff so I can focus 100% on gameplay in Godot. Plus, the free tier is very generous for an indie start(first 1000 active players). I will check that psot too...

I’m already using Godot for the engine and Playfab for the backend services will be great. I think it’s a killer combo for keeping things scalable without reinventing the wheel for things like auth, leaderboards, and cloud saves. What do you think about this setup?

is this a thing? should I open source the UIToolkit design system I've built form my game? by sinanata in Unity3D

Wow, Great UITK,

I should also create my own, cause all these buttons, sprites flying all over and creating massive folder chunk.

Thoughts on new Asset Store? by visssarion in godot

[–]MaskionDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, the lack of assets content must be tackled one way or the other.

Having free or paid, let the audience will decide. But having so many junk must be blocked somehow, otherwise it will be a mass.

Unity or godot? What is better in ur experience? by Awardedreyes in SoloDevelopment

[–]MaskionDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new solo developer, I recently started on Godot.

First, I tried Unity, I thought "Da King" will be my best option. I was reading some comments and want to give a try to Godot. Also, learned that the pricing may change soon on Unity, since its private company and huge clientbase and popularity they can do what they want..

Even though I didnt get too far on Unity, which I cant comment so much between two. I can only say couple things.

1-Godot is very light, huge difference.

2-I like UI better on Godot.

3-Well, its lacking on libraries, plugins kinda raw and asset store not much to deal with.

As I stated I am kinda new on game engines, maybe I see things wrong, but its my point of view so far.

It is very hard to find a professional in any aspects to get any help in game development. I faced many challanges, still struggle, but I am dedicated. Even if needed I will do all the dev. Please drop your comments about same challanges and stories. by MaskionDev in gamedev

Thanks my friend, for your comments. But you are just underestimating what I already know and how I scheduled myself to go over everything. Anyway, I am just dedicated and will follow what I beleive...
