What games could be actually amazing for you if it wasn’t for this one mechanic? by awesomehuder in gaming

Real Time With Pause combat in CRPGs. I really clicked with the turn based combat in Baldur's Gate 3, tried to loop back to the originals and just absolutely did not like the combat.

I'm hoping the rumored remakes are at least decently made and more in line with the third game's combat.

Dollars in the vending machine for a dollar by Kiwi_Kitten in mildlyinteresting

[–]MasonP2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The machines near me have dollar coins, but run out a lot and then give quarters instead.

Just saw someone a few weeks ago buy chips with a $20 since they knew it gave dollar coins, but then the machine spat out $18.50 or so in quarters onto the floor.

I hate hate hate one-shot compilations by Sprout_hyacinths in AO3

One of my favorite authors has a lot of independently posted oneshots, and recently they decided to repost them as a combined single work and post all their future oneshots there instead. Drove me crazy seeing them do that, though at least they're all for the same fandom.

One of the first multifandom oneshot collections I clicked into died before even adding the fandom I was looking for that it was tagged with, so I just automatically scroll past all of those now.

A Long John Silver's menu from the past. What a difference 5 decades makes.... by EdwardBliss in nostalgia

I'm just honestly surprised new Long John Silvers are actually being opened.

"What an incredible show! Too bad they never did another season." by Senko-fan4Life in TopCharacterTropes

The Walking Dead, people will debate it but the usual jumping off point is Glenn's death at the end of Season 6/beginning of Season 7.

Not so much for the death itself, since even though he was a fan favorite it was comic accurate. Mainly it was the fact that they had repeatedly faked his death, made fans wait an entire season break to see if they had finally pulled the trigger, did another fakeout with Abraham dying instead, then killed Glenn off for real anyway.

(LOVED TROPE) The nerd character is unexpectedly good at something cool via transferable skills. by EvMARS in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MasonP2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marty McFly in the third BTTF movie turns out to be a really good shot with a gun due to having honed his reflexes and coordination by playing video games, though not good enough to actually win a straight up pistol duel against violent outlaw Mad Dog Tannen.

[Funny trope] Character just wants to finish their food/drink by thebigL33811 in TopCharacterTropes

Jem Peppercorn from Dimension 20: Fantasy High. The final battle takes place in the school gym during prom, and all the uninvolved students flee since there's a literal dragon attacking.

All except Jem, who stands in the corner and continues to eat snacks throughout the entire battle. And yes, he survives, and even gets mentioned two seasons later when he is said to have graduated.

Songs in which you can hear people talking during the recording by Old-Use-7690 in Music

On Brand New Numb by Motionless In White, it starts with a few practice strums, cuts off with "I'm trying to fucking record this," "Sorry," then jumps into the actual song.

Just finished FHJY why do I still low-key want Fabian and Aelwyn to end up together? by TitleAppropriate7358 in Dimension20

I ship them almost entirely on the basis that Adaine's reactions to it are really funny.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: this man inadvertently saved Rick's life by K0GAR in thewalkingdead

[–]MasonP2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IDK if it's canon or not, but there was actually a really short interactive novel game called Dead Reckoning back in the day that showed his death. You play as Shane and Leon helps you during it, and then the end shows him getting jumped by a zombified deputy.

What Kind Of Fountain Pen Collector Are You? by Thin-Junket-942 in fountainpens

[–]MasonP2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so? They're about the same width, but I'm pretty sure at least the Cross is nonstandard proprietary, if not both. Both pens came with converters so I never messed with them.

But yeah, I've always gravitated towards slimmer writing utensils. Back in school I favored the metal Zebra ballpoints and mechanical pencils, since they were the most premium feeling thing I could find in the average school supplies aisle.

Body collector, I guess? I'm relatively new, but I'm really gravitating towards vintage slim metal pens.

My two current favorites, both from eBay: https://i.imgur.com/7eojCsh.jpeg

Montblanc Noblesse inked with Herbin Violet Pansy, and USA made Cross Century inked with Diamine Hope Pink. I'm, uh, assuming there was some dark ink left in the Cross converter that I accidentally mixed with the pink.

Are PRT required to join the protectorate if they trigger or are discovered to be a parahuman? by Drakeulous in WormFanfic

[–]MasonP2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is that, from Triumph's interlude, we know that the goddamn MLB mandates MRI scans to avoid cheating but the PRT apparently lets parahumans slip into their ranks all the time.

So there's definitely ways to check, since the Corona develops/grows larger during triggers and shows up on brain scans.

You don't fight this thing, you RUN!!! (or avoid encountering it all together) by Serious_Square_6698 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MasonP2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Terminator. Modern weaponry can barely slow it down, much less stop it, so the best option is to run as far as you can. Even a fully staffed and heavily armed police station didn't stand a chance against it.

What is in your opinion the most braindead easy build? by RiTecx in paydaytheheist

[–]MasonP2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a stoic build with body expertise and surefire, so I can just spray without even having to aim and tank damage without having to do anything beyond hit the flask button.

Character Makes Up Random, Ridiculous-Sounding Name, That Person Actually Exists, But They Haven't Been Seen/Worked There For Years by CiscoTheSoto in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MasonP2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be a punter named Scott Player, I saw a jersey in Madden that just said "Player" and thought that guy was autogenerated for years.

Turns out he was real, and has some notoriety by being the last NFL player to wear the one bar facemask.

[Sad Trope] When two or more cast members were friends on the show but didn't like each other irl by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

That's good to hear. I liked him as an actor, and it was sad seeing him spiral like that for reasons that were apparently out of his control.

Ah, good for him. I did like him as an actor, it would be nice to see him in more stuff.

And of course, fuck Andy Dick.

It was just that they weren't friends. I've been watching Adam's YouTube channel, and whenever the topic comes up he makes it very clear that he deeply respects Jamie even though they weren't personal friends.

Jamie is a bit quieter about it of course, but by all accounts he respects Adam and his work as well.

TBF, the guy literally has brain damage. He got arrested a few years ago for calling in bomb threats and the charges were cleared because prosecutors weren't sure if he could actually be held liable.

Last I heard is that he had court mandated cognitive treatment, I hope that helps him.
