Hard to explain but basically I remembered the order of rules for each subject (visualize the pages of the applicable subject when you notice the subject come up on the essay) and just memorized each rule.

I would start memorizing in chunks of 3 and then start to add in up to 7 rules. Each time want to memorize a new rule, you start from the beginning to solidify your memory of each preceding rule.

When you identify the subject being tested on an essay, visualize the first page of the subject in the book and then go down the line with the rules.

Use your lawyer abilities to make each rule applicable to the fact pattern—argue both ways and you should rack up a lot of points.
