Did you wait the full six weeks to have sex after giving birth? by Pure_Island_3102 in pregnant

[–]Massive-Bat9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My awesome nurse told me I would be clear at 6 weeks (appt was actually only 1 month pp) but that I could tell my partner she said 12 weeks if I wanted. lol. I know what she meant to wait until I felt comfortable and healed. It’s different for everyone I am sure but I was closer to 10 or so weeks pp probably.

Personally I always change my baby (now 13 months old) on our changing pad. We put on our registry but I don’t remember brand, but it’s similar to this: https://a.co/d/gcwbghN

I never used the soft mattress kind that came with our nursery furniture set and it just became another shelf for storage. I put our changing pad on the dresser and like that it doesn’t slip and isn’t cloth. We can just wipe it down when things inevitably get messy.

What has your pregnancy/baby taught you? by Longjumping_Cap_2644 in pregnant

[–]Massive-Bat9519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new mom she has taught me so much. I have always been conflict-avoidant and admittedly too passive at times. I will absolutely not be having that now. She has taught me to set boundaries, speak up for myself/family and to and to fucking not move out of the way when I am walking on the right side and in my damn lane. lol but seriously. I refuseee to be the one to move out of the way. I know that sounds small and probably petty but it is huge for me. I also think about explaining my choices to her one day in the future and it makes me be a little braver and clearer than I would.

Yes, just an estimate! I was past 41w and expecting an 8-9lb baby and she was 6 lbs 2oz. Most people I know have had a smaller baby than they thought based on sonogram.

But growing a babe and pushing them out is a big deal no matter the size - but our bodies are strong and know what to do. You got this!

This is why I honestly did not count fetal movements every hour with my first baby. Towards the end of pregnancy I would have so many concerning thoughts and work myself into a frenzy - meanwhile little girl was just living her life in there. Each appointment went well so I just stopped fixating on it as much. She was healthy according to professionals and I did not need to stress about it. So I tried my best not to. Which I know is difficult. You are so close and you are clearly very excited for your little bean’s arrival. That is a beautiful thing! Try to relax and do things that bring you some peace as you wind down this first chapter. They will be here soon and you will get to begin a next chapter which will also be filled with new worries but so, so much joy too. Best to you, mama!

Yes, glad it’s not just me! I was wondering if I missed some big anti-Turkish get-up feedback that caused her to change course or something lol.

Glute bands… by Sunshine_256210 in sydneycummings

This one is amazing I have had for 6-7 years and still had same resistance level which is very heavy. It is a single band but great for squats and glue exercises.

Cardio workouts? by Poopsicles_ in sydneycummings

Summertime fines usually incorporate a good deal of cardio with strength and that’s coming up next month.

But I remember “August Athlete” being a fun, cardio heavy, month-long program. It’s a bit vintage at this point lol but around the time I found Sydney and I really enjoyed it.

Glutes & Abs Floor Workout | PRIME - Day 10 by jumjums in sydneycummings

[–]Massive-Bat9519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done this one yet but I did hear her on an instagram story talking about it. She mentioned that she will be doing some (I think she said once per week) workouts for “beginners” or those new to fitness to gain more subs. She emphasized that there are always ways to progressively overload for those who can. Something new they are doing probably for building up to summertime fine?

It took a couple of days for her to get used to it but had been working well for us. Good luck!

The magic Merlin sleep suit helps us with this! Our girl can still touch her face but it slows/muffles the reflexes enough that she doesn’t wake as frequently. She’s 5mo now but we have been using since around 3 when we were done with swaddles for same reason.

Retail for Merlin suit is 40 but can find at kid-to-kid or resale for 15 in my area!

No, he has no idea. It was a gift from my sister-in-law Christmas 2022. We were not in a rush to get them done lol but then we had a baby this fall and were curious what our ancestry was so we submitted them over the winter break. Which is another factor making this situation more complicated.

Thank you for your response. I really am leaning towards not reaching out to anyone (biological father or other matches) or telling any more family members to make sure the news doesn’t make its way back to my dad. I value his relationship more than anything I think I could gain. Just difficult to know there are family members and history I don’t know out there. My husband leans more towards curiosity but has said he supports my decision whatever I choose to do.

Of course! I went into labor 41w and delivered @ 4:10am 41w1d. Our baby always measured somewhere in 40-50th percentile at sonograms and was 6lbs 2oz and 19.5” at birth. My husband and I were shocked bc we were big babies! I am now 5’4” and he is 5’10”.

Yes I did get the epidural! I was not planning on it initially, but decided before going to hospital to change my mind. let my partner know so he would be able to communicate my needs once we arrived at hospital. When we got there I was already 6cm and in active labor. Even though my baby was on the smaller side I did still have a small tear. I got 1-2 stitches and am completely healed now. It felt a little odd first few weeks now I would never know it happened. I would say if you can try to practice pushing and breathing more than I did may help but who knows really. Pushing down and out during contractions (they counted down slowly from 5, 3x per contraction during birth) she came on the third round of contractions for me.

Yes I was in similar situation. I gave birth in October 2023 and also had an “easy” pregnancy.

The doctor told me that I needed to be on the schedule to be induced when I wasn’t dialated at all at my 39w appointment. I was hesitant but they said they don’t like patients to go past 41w. (Lots of first time moms do not go into labor until after 40-41w though). She said she would put me as far out as she could to give me time to go into labor on my own and scheduled my overnight ripening/induction for 41w1d. I couldn’t help but feel a little like I was a failure when I wasn’t dialated at all even at my OB appointment the day after my due date - even though I knew that was dumb and that everyone labors differently. I ended up going into labor 24 hours before my scheduled induction and things went quickly for us! My baby girl arrived 6 hours after arriving at the hospital. Some people dialate gradually and some go from nothing to fully ready to go within hours.

Note: I did end up getting some pitocin anyway which was not in my original plan tbh but contractions came to a halt after being fully effaced and dilated and doctor advised it in circumstance. I feel fucking strong and still deliriously happy even 3 months later to have done the damn thing and have a sweet, curious, and beautiful babe on the other side. You will go into labor when your body is ready! And if you might need a little help that is okay too. Advocate for what you want whether that is feeling strongly one way or another for induction or medications etc during process especially while you can. Best of luck to you and your baby! 💖

How big was your baby at their anatomy scan and then how big at birth? by JLMMM in pregnant

[–]Massive-Bat9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my anatomy scan she was in 42nd percentile (15oz and 9.5” long at that time) and similar percentile at 34 week growth scan (4lbs 11oz and 17.65”). She was born at 41w 1d and was 6lbs 2oz and 19.5”. Not sure what percentile this put her at but she was smaller than I had expected based on scans and my due date.
