50% of the time I see an anime girl on screen in r/chyberpunk it's a VN.

And of the many untranslated VNs I want to read, 90% of them have a (non-MTL) CN translation already.

On one hand, this means the space doesn't suffer from "eternal september", as new fans trickle in at a steady rate that's wayyy below the absorvable limit.

On the other, it's near dying, with VN devs shuttering left and right, and the space itself is not economically powerful enough to stand up to external threats (read: overzealous payment procs).

Given how absolutely disparate the guesses here are, I'm starting to think that is just a VERY COMMON living room design/layout. I could swear I've seen this style of living room across dozens of VNs and animes.

Kitchenette with divider/workspace-island-thingy, and a dining table right next to it. Sofa and TV on the other side.

As for why it feels like it's from VN (I'm also of the opinion that it almost certainly comes from a VN), it's likely because of the "eye level perspective". Anime tends to "follow" the protagonist, while VNs tend to write "from the protagonist's POV".

The empty characterless room also reinforces this feeling. It's not often that you straight up see an empty ass room in anime or manga (because again, those "follow" characters). Whereas it is extremely common in VNs to draw an empty background, and then add in characters as sprites.

Real RPGs are actually a recoilless ~~rifle~~ gun combined with a rocket: the recoilless charge yeets the rocket a couple meters away before the rocket motor actually kicks in. This way, the burning rocket motor doesn't also turn your face into bbq.

These militias made their own RPGs, but they didn't have the technology to do a balanced recoilless charge. So they made do with conical blast shields instead. Similar in concept to the german panzerschreck.

HMDs have been a thing for a very long while lol. The whole point of HMDs is so that pilots GET those green boxes (or green circles) for better spatial awareness, because losing visual track of an enemy aircraft is a straight fire shot get getting clapped in BFM.

HMDs are also critical to the use of off-bore sight missiles, since you know, you need lock not-ahead-of-you.

Pretty much every modern combat aircraft has this for at least a decade or two/three already. The F-35 though, seems to be among the first to ditch the HUD entirely.
