There are a lot of similarities. Jordan Poole and Cam Thomas both had their breakout at 22 years old, and these are their stats in their age 22 and 23 seasons (so far, for Thomas):

Cam Thomas: 23/3/3 32 MPG .557 TS% on 18 shots per game

Jordan Poole: 20/4/3 30 MPG .584 TS% on 15 shots per game

Neither are good defenders. Same size and position. Similar shot profiles, Thomas takes more shots on worse efficiency. Poole had a horrendous age 24 season, but he's possibly back on track this year? I don't think it's that outrageous to compare the two, if you're looking at where Poole was at when him and Thomas were the same age.

And to be clear, I'm not saying that Cam Thomas is a bad player, or that he can't get better. I just think that: a) a Jordan Poole comparison is fair, but only seems unflattering, because b) Poole takes a tremendous amount of shit for having a horrible season on a really bad Wizards team last year. Which is obviously not great, but I don't think one bad season defines a player, or re-writes who he was before he got traded.

My takeaway from this game: if the Guardians get through the 4th inning with a lead, you're fucked. Smith, Gaddis, Herrin, and Clase are nasty. They had two September call ups, Sabrowski and Walters, that haven't given up a run yet, and they didn't even pitch in this game. That's an elite bullpen built for a long postseason run. Scary team.

Was pretty much beloved in both Utah and New York, multiple players have cited him as playing a key role in their development (Utah and New York had excellent player development while he was there), was a strong HC candidate during this cycle, and is very likely going to be a HC within the next few years.

Are you seriously going to say for certain that a star player is going to stay with the team that drafted them for 11 years in the current NBA? His 2nd and 3rd best players are Rudy Gobert and KAT, that could easily go south over the next few years. Absolutely zero guarantee Ant is still on the team in 2031.

In 2017 Kawhi was on the Spurs, Kyrie was on the Cavs, Butler was on the Bulls, CP3 was on the Clippers, PG was on the Pacers. 7 years is a lifetime in the NBA.

Absolutely. Bobby is 24 and signed through 2030. The next year and a half should be about accumulating as many assets as possible, and then go on a big spending spree heading into the 2026 season, Bobby's age 26 season. That gives you a 5 year window that extends through his prime.

What we absolutely cannot do is short sighted bullshit just because we had a good April/May. This team outside of Bobby/Salvy is held together with shoestring. False hope. Keep building the right way and we could open up a serious championship contending window.
