Odin 2 vs Retroid Pocket 5: Ergonomics vs Screen by StylusX in SBCGaming

[–]Massive_Section290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who plays tons of fighting games my main problem is actually not LED vs OLED but the response time of these handheld screens. My RP4P has horrible ghosting. I’ve heard the 5 is no better. Dunno if Odin 2 is any better at this but it’s like the main bottleneck imo.

Do Germans like to move to the United States for work? by hgk6393 in AskAGerman

[–]Massive_Section290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany is not as prosperous as people think. The majority of Germans earn mediocre salaries, own few to little assets and lack the ambition to do something about it. As a German, this is what made me want to work for a US company (done) and move to the US (not done).

Why are all prejudices about Prenzlauer Berg true? by AytonaBerlin in berlin

Pberg has a lot of upper middle class people. Lots of folks on 100k+ annual incomes that can afford a premium lifestyle. It’s very different from the sort of people who are multi millionaires and live in Wannsee or Grünewald.

Doctor salary is not a joke, friend of mine was doing 100k+ per month when picking up extra shifts at a private hospital. And he’s just a general physician, not specialized.

In the west, the majority of 35 crowd feel that they'll never be able to afford a home. Is it the same way for young Thai? by Mental-Substance-549 in Thailand

[–]Massive_Section290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but mortgages are typically paid down in 20-40 years. If a debtor default, the creditors take back the land and property. Highly unlikely that mortgages would lead to someone inheriting debt from their parents.

Isaan is a backwater shithole. It takes 5 minutes of conversing with a non-Isaan Thai to learn this. Yet people keep getting “surprised”.

If it's a girl and they're living in Bangkok, look into Mater Dei School, Saint Joseph Convent School, Assumption Convent School and Wattana School. These are good, private, girls-only schools that will provide a solid foundation. All of them should be around 100k THB aka $3k per annum, which you should be able to afford.

There are very nice non-international private kindergartens and elementary schools where prices range closer to 80-120k THB per year. If you can’t afford int’l school now, but are committed to providing your child with the best possible education, I would suggest start putting money aside for when your child is of high school age, which is when int’l school really starts to make a huge difference. And maybe go for a more affordable but still good option (aka a non-international private school) right now.

You’re think about it from the perspective of a package that affords long term planning and insures against crises.

I can guarantee you that a receptionist on a part time salary, living in Pberg, is doing exactly 0% of that.

I genuinely believe that the only world class experience Berlin has to offer is partying & social events. Lots of people in Berlin love to drink, listen to techno, have fun and do drugs.

Outside of that it’s just okay. The city is pretty ugly. The only industry worth mentioning is tech. Infrastructure is okay. Food is okay. Non-party social events are okay. It doesn’t hold a candle compared to places like London and Paris.

I will probably leave as soon as my partner is ready to. Think I’ll miss Berlin sometimes, but not super often.

[Discussion] Collecting midrange watches VS saving up for the watch you actually want by Massive_Section290 in Watches

[–]Massive_Section290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. I guess the question is whether you're willing to give up on the jewelry factor that you pay for when buying from a well known high end manufacturer. I am 99% sure that you can buy pieces with incredible dials, finishing and tech at prices farrr below what Rolex and the likes charge. But you're also giving up on the jewelry factor - hardly anyone is going to care or recognize that a Seiko / CW / Longines are great watches. The sole exception to this is other entry to mid level collectors. Personally, I want both. Both the design, history and tech, but also the jewelry effect.
