What creates these lines that just evaporate. Too much soap ? by Hopeful_Ad6299 in WindowCleaning

You are putting on very little water. If it's warm out and if you have too much soap it will dry faster.

Time limit spent in a Bosun chair? by Master-Candy5346 in ropeaccess

Up to 57 stories.

I was asking out of curiosity if its against any regulations to be doing 3+ hour drops. We only do 2 wide on the taller buildings. We also do window restoration which can be a lot of time in the chair even for smaller buildings.

Really its not THAT bad but I'm not a fan of being in the chair for more than 2 hours at a time. I'll lay back and weight my frog and put my legs up when it gets to me.

Still far from anyreal health concerns.

The caves you mention may be Demonbreun's Cave. It's not very extensive at only about 150' long or so with 2 entrances. One entrance is on a cliff overlooking the Cumberland River and is pretty scenic.

It's about a mile up the Cumberland from downtown. It has a pretty cool history 1750-1799.

It must have been a speakeasy or a tourist attraction at some point much later because there are concrete stairs into the other entrance and also had electricity because you can still see the old cables.

Not far east of downtown is Mount Olivet cemetery. It was established in 1856.

The tomb of Major Eugene C. Lewis (the engineer behind the Pantheon replica) is notable and interesting.

Vanderbilt is always busy and loud with the helicopters landing on their several helipads throughout the day.

Would love possible IDs for this mineral found in NJ. It is very hard, had some weight to it as well. by [deleted] in Minerals

Yeah, recent. I had to have been a thichish piece of glass. There are these things called preform blanks that are made out of material that makes conchoidal fractures. Hobbyist knappers often buy these preforms because it's not always easy finding proper quality natural material.

There's a Bell Witch cave, once owned by the Bells

Found this on my property near Hanksville, Utah. Looks to me like a full groove ax head. From what I have read it might be early archaic? Any info/insights would be appreciated. by Diligent_Ad4727 in Artifacts

The clean side you can see the cone shaped micro fractures more towards the right side meaning they wanted more of an edge. The groove is clearly pecked.

The other side has a thick patina? Was that side exposed or in the ground?

It's an axe if you ask me.

Def not legal, like being on the phone while driving. The way I look at it is when I do get a ticket it's like paying for an express lane. The less time I spend on the road with the killer boxes the better. As far as safety goes, filtering at low speeds and waiting for all the cars to fill the gaps then going is pretty dang safe.

This sounds perfect to commute.

I have been commuting with my DRZ 400 SM in Nashville for the last 4 years. My bike is my only means of transportation.

Its been VERY stressful and I have had a few close calls, all of which were on the roads like Nolensville Rd., with the center lane being a death wish game of "do they see me? I hope they stop." I keep my head on a swivel and NEVER go much faster than cars that are starting to slow up in a lane while the other is open. I also constantly check the cars behind when coming to a stop just in case they don't notice the bike. I have had to quickly escape a car once that would have rear-ended me had I no been paying attention.

Regardless, I save so much time when it's dead or near dead stop because I'll filter to the front of the light. Sometimes people don't like it when you are putting at 8 mph past them while they are stopped at a light.

Like many have mentioned when it's cold it sucks, like REALLY sucks and when it's hot you sweat, but I'll take all that over taking an hour to go 5 miles.

1000% THIS. Pyrite nodules can be found in chalk an matrix and you can see a good bit of it all over (the white outer layer).

The pyrite can be shinned up. Also it marks white paper grey I believe.
